Hope some of you can help shed some light on questions I haven't seen the answers to yet.
When I click through their website I don't see anything about a home time policy, is there one? I see a bunch of bells and whistles on their tractors but no mention of apu's. If they have them is only on some of their units? If they don't have em', do they have an idle policy?
Thanks and be safe.

the current home time policy is 1 day off for 1 week out up to 4-5 days off...they have purchased 2,500 apu's but have not installed any on the trks as of yet that I know of and yes we have an idle policy now how many drivers follow i will never know....if the temp is above 80 degress or below 60 degrees u can idle your trk. I am a team driver and don't sit that much so I couldn't tell you how strict they are on the policy
Civilservant, The Challenger, trucker43 and 1 other person Thank this. -
Hey Picker,
Just a thought,
there are many other companies to consider, from your location.
Good Luck !!! -
if you look at the no idle policy it only aplys at company terminals. but your right even there no one comes and tells you to shut it off.
-
Good to know. I could live with that - should I go to US X I hope they have the APU's rollin. I know there are several states on the verge of enacting idle laws, and I sure don't want to get caught on the wrong side of that.

You're right, although I have eliminated several companies that run through here a lot, I am only making a list of those I will apply to and fire questions at. If there are some companies that you think are good candidates I would like to hear from drivers on the job. I am pretty skeptical of recruiters. Last time I bought what a recruiter sold, instead of tanning and training in Hawaii I ended up in Panama and Grenada gettin' shot at by freakin Cubans.trucker43, lovesthedrive and jtrnr1951 Thank this. -
I have my dog and I idle most of the time, policy states that you can if you have an animal. I've gotten one message from my dispatcher about idling, but that was before she knew about my dog and besides that, I don't sweat and almost had heat exhaustion the other day after driving from Laredo to 100 miles inside Louisiana to the Pilot.

I'm curious, is there anything written into the idle laws concerning pets? Seems like that would have to be an automatic waiver, otherwise they'd be settin up a situation that John Q. Public gets prosecuted for.

What kind of dog do you have? How do you like traveling with your dog?
I would think that with the right animal it would be very positive. -
I no longer have my dog. The first week she did OK. The 2nd week she ate my glove, cigarettes, notepad, ink pen (had to bum one from a guard at a pick-up), toys, and my wallet. Fortunately she only put a small rip in the corner of my fuel card and a teeny bite in my driver payback card so I can still use those. My license and DOT physical card had one corner gone and bite marks all over them....but the worst was she totally destroyed my debit card. Then the last day she tore into my sleeping bag. So when I got home yesterday, she went back to the Humane Society.
