Hello everybody, I graduated from trucking school in CA in November of last year and I still have not been able to find work. Part of that has to do with my own personal restrictions because I have a new baby I am reluctant to go OTR. But now im in a serious financial bind (like most of us) and I need to disregard my preferences and just do it. It seems like most places want at least 6 mo to a year experience before they will consider hiring you. But now ive been out of school for 7 months and im not sure anyone will take me for OTR either. I wanted to try for Gordon, but now it looks like they disabled the driver information pages on their website. Is there any other reputable companies in CA that would give me an opportunity? I want to get at least a years worth of OTR experience so I can switch to something local. Thanks

Attention employers: We now require a valid DOT# for anyone wishing to post a driving position. If your job offer doesn't contain a DOT number, it will not get past moderation and will not appear in the forum. The other requirements in the sticky at the top of this section are still required as well. Thank you for understanding.

Get on the horn or the computer, hand... lots of companies listed at www.fleetdirectory.com (scroll downward under each state heading), with company phone numbers, links to company websites, etc., etc. Trucking jobs can also be found in the "Transport" column of Craigslist, although those jobs tend to be geared toward experienced drivers. Good luck!

since you did not take a job right out of school with in 60 days, you are going to either take a refresher course or go with a company that will offer that for you. once you pass that 60 day window, no insurance carrier out there will cover you in the truck. and that is even if you are with a trainer.
