the money is coming from money you paid into it. you earned that right to collect. am i part of the problem? maybe are you? possibly. im sure people in wheel chairs could work in a sit down job but they r entitled to their disability. can some of them work sure but they collect it because its due to them

NO...Because I am not the type to just roll over and quit! There are plenty of other things a man can do to make money.
So I hear...From people that are fat because they eat too ###### much!
Not too many years ago you just didn't see these 450 pounders around as much as you do now.
Look around you, There are Sooooooo.....Many of them these days that it's common.
There are people that have a hard time losing weight because of medical issues...But there are far more who's medical issues are not causing them to be fat but are there because they let themselves get so fat that it made them sick.
Diabetes is a case in point...Many people that have diabetes have it because of their weight and if they lose a bunch of weight the diabetes is usually less severe or goes away altogether.
Watch the fatsos at the truckstop...Makin' 4 or five trips to the buffet and then stopping in the store to buy a 64 oz. soda and some snacks on the way out to the truck!
It's pathetic!
I don't drink sodas.
I hardly ever eat truckstop food.
I don't eat fried foods.
I don't eat chips.
I don't eat at the buffet...Anywhere.
I eat fresh fruit instead of candy and doughnuts.
I only eat when I'm hungry, Not because I'm bored.
I don't add salt to anything.
I GET REGULAR EXERCIZE BY WALKING FOR A LITTLE WHILE EACH DAY!!!
Part of the problem is that you think Subway is healthy food!
It take a little effort...But it's well worth it. -
Honestly, *EVERYONE* on disability who is capable of coming to this forum and telling us about it can do some type of work. The question is, how much of that work is out there? It's hard finding *ANY* job these days...
My "dad" was on it, could barely walk, lots of chronic pain, and failed a stress test to the point that they initially accused him of faking it..haha (he wasnt). Sat on ebay, myspace, etc all day. Right there's a job he could do.
And anyone can be a greeter at walmart.
Big rigger is on here, clearly he could do a computer related job, maybe even start his own business. Infact, I think it would be really neat if he started his own online business, because he doesn't need to worry about income while starting it, with the disability.
I knew a guy who painted cars his whole life without facemasks, among other things, and was on disability. Had to use oxygen. But he'd be spending that disability on marijuana and cigarettes, see any issue with this? Besides that, he was perfectly capable of doing some type of computer related job or start an online business. Cept he was a moron. But thats not a disability, you can fix stupid.
Etc etc etc etc etc etc....
Hardly anyone is realllly disabled.
Anyway, I just love how most of these replies are just plain attacking the OP. How do you know he's only fat because he overeats? There are lots of medical disorders that cause weight gain + he might not even know he has one. I dated a girl that was nearly as big as him, she wasnt exactly shoving food down her face constantly...
Gawd, be a human.
But I think OP should try to get back to work doing something else, using that disability money to support him while he does it, even if it requires going to school, etc. You are going to get *BORED*...Big Don Thanks this. -
I agree with you blackw900 being overweight is no excuse for filing for disability.I am about 40lbs overweight now and have lost about 30lbs myself. All I have done was start drinking less soda and more water.I found that for me chewing on ice chips was a very effective way to get water and avoiding the boredom snacking habit.I noticed a immediate rise i my energy and better sleep as well as breaking my soda habit.I also eat cereals that are sweetened with honey instead of sugar or have no sweetener at all other than fruit.Parking in the farthest corner of truck stop when I have to stay at one gets me extra exercise. No it's not easy but it is doable!

I agree to a point. I have several fat and diabetic family members. Some are just diabetic, some are diabetic because they're fat, but none of them were born diabetic. None of them are exactly the ideal weight either though.

I cant eat quite as healthy as you but i will do what i can off that list. I love pepper more than salt..And mmm pop. Ehehehe. But I drank pop for years without gaining weight, so I know i can do it without giving that up...
Oh, and walking. Hell yeah, i love walking. I also have a GPS and sometimes I use it to find somewhere to walk to, about a mile away, and use it to show me how to get there. Of course, you know that im talking about in places where i end up parked that i know nothing about the area at all. Of course, a lot of times that's walking to a restaurant that i suspect will be better than truckstop food...but atleast it's *walking a mile* to get there, heh...
I don't think it's healthy food, however, it is pretty typical of food that is advertised as being healthy. Healthy because its such small amounts of food, you know. 7 grams of fat, yeah, because the receipt will do a better job of filling me than the sandwich!
I remember once I bought some snacks that were in a box and marked as "100 calorie packs". This was way back when they first started the 100 calorie crap, and I was sooo pissed when i opened it. I mean, i just bought them because it looked good, not becuase of the calories..LOL.
I have to say, i do eat at subway. but only for breakfast, because I rather like their breakfast sandwiches, and its actually a halfway filling sandwich because of the egg.
Yup. Mind you, I'm only 40 lb overweight, and it really doesnt show because I have big bones. But because of those bones, I have a high BMI for no reason, so..ehehehe.
Anyway, werner has a video they show in orientation about being fat, and it brings up a good point. Try climbing in and out of the cab as much as we do in a day with a bowling ball strapped to your belly....
I also noticed that in the last couple of months ive been gaining it, and i do not want to continue that upward trend..

Sure you can...
I thought so too...Soda is one of the worst things and DIET SODAS ARE WORSE!
Stop drinking sodas and you'll lose ten pounds in a month if you don't change anything else!
Me too...I weigh 290 right now and no one that I know believes that I weigh that much. I have very big bones...I wear a size 17 ring and have never really been able to wear a wrist watch because my hands and wrists are so big that I can never find one that feels right.
When I graduated high school I weighed 245 and last time I checked...That was 37 years ago....So I've gained an average of 1.2 pounds a year since then at my current weight.
Not bad.
That's why I think that in the final analysis the BMI thing will get shot down.
There are too many variables.
I've recently lost around thirty pounds. (probably more now but I haven't stepped on a scale in a few days.) It would be interesting to put thirty pounds of sand in a backpack and carry it around for a few hours to remind myself of exactly how much weight that is...Just a thought.Big Don Thanks this. -
Why are diet sodas just as bad or even worse than the full calorie sodas? I realize they are not healthy but calories consumed versus calories burned are what i thought was the key to weight loss.
I drink way too much diet pepsi. -
I'm not 100% sure of all of the reasons but a huge part of what's bad about soda isn't so much the calories but the sodium content. That's why one of the first thing they tell a guy when he has blood pressure problems is to cut salt...The sodium causes you to retain fluids and that can contribute to weight gain and high B/P for starters.
Ask any doctor about diet sodas and they'll tell you to stay the hell away from them.NDBADLANDS Thanks this. -
ok. I'll try.
I will never drink diet, hehehehe...nastay...
I weigh 230 and no one believes that i weigh that much I wanna weigh about 190. I don't have any rings but I wear a size 14 shoe..lol.
1.2 pounds a year is very average in society these days. Not too bad.
You have to admit, there's a lot of temptation out there these days. Heavy marketing on everything bad for you, claiming its healthy. Such as...Subway, "100 calorie packs" (for example, a packet with 2 cookies in it), McDonald's salads, ....you know. It really bugs me the way that is.
bmi is the stupidest thing i have ever heard of. Hell, ever used wii fit? As soon as you start the game it weighs you and tells you your bmi. Mine says, YOURE OBESE!!!!...GAWD.
Not a backpack, put it on your belly. Cause you know where it goes in real life, and the back would be easier to carry it on!
Actually, they're primarily made for diabetics cause there's no sugar in it. But beyond that, its all marketing bull..
You know about Splenda, right? I don't know what it actually is, but for the most part it's an artificial sweetener that...tastes just like sugar. Hell, its made from sugar. Ever noticed all the stuff like diet pop that is still using Aspartame (Nutra Sweet)? Aspartame is bad for you, doesnt taste anything like sugar at all...but its still so common, even though theres an obviously better alternative.
Because Aspartame is addictive! People get addicted to diet pop, and they think it's the pop they're addicted to...Splenda isn't, so they aren't switching for the most part.
I also want to point these out: http://www.janethull.com/askdrhull/article.php?id=007
of course, she says splenda is addictive too, and i agree with her on her reasoning. However, she's not talking about chemical addiction like i was.
http://www.aspartame.ca/page_a13.htmlBig Don and NDBADLANDS Thank this. -
Good for you Big Rigger! All these people chastising you about it are a little ridiculous. You paid into the system for YEARS and now the govt. comes along and says they don't think you should be able to make a living as you choose any longer. In these cases, take everything you can get! It's not like you're a welfare case spitting out as many babies as you can to milk the system.
112racing, Big Don and BIG RIGGER Thank this.
