Things went well for two weeks after I wrote this reply. I got 3474 and 2805 miles respectively. Then I came in for home time on May 1st. When I went back to my truck on Wednesday, May 5th to head back out onto the road, my truck was broke down where it sat. The gear indicator flashes "F" and will not reset. Tried cycling the battery cutout switch as well as removing all the battery fuses for 30 minutes. Nothing. After 90 minutes with Roadcall, it was determined that my truck needed to be towed to the dealer.
Last Friday I was told that the part they needed to have overnighted had arrived, they had put it on, and they were still having problems. After consulting with the manufacturer it was decided that another part was needed. I was told it would not arrive at the dealer until Monday. Monday night I was told they are just putting the part on now. Tuesday afternoon I'm told that the wiring harness they ordered was installed, but there were still problems and they needed further consultation with the manufacturer.
I asked my FM in Lebanon about a loaner. He asked me if I could get to the Findlay yard if they have one. I told him I could. He never called back. And seeing how it took nearly two hours to get thru to him on the phone the first time.....
Today (Wednesday the 12th) is one week without my truck. I've already had one 0 mile week and unless I'm rolling tomorrow or shortly thereafter it looks like I may have two weeks with 0 miles. I'm at my wit's end as to what to do about this. My truck can't get fixed, my FM can't or won't arrange for a loaner. I'd think about putting in apps elsewhere, but I have a concern that if I find something else, they just might want to put the dreaded "Abandoned Equipment" on my DAC since I left it at a dealer and didn't return it to a yard.
It's nearly all over. The bank account is dry and the bills for the next couple weeks (house payment, car payment, utilities, etc) are already here, totaling over $2k. I don't know if there is any recovering from the hole I've been put into thru no fault of my own.
Just an update. Sorry to ramble on....

me and wifey worked at interstate for 1 year,we had stayed out 8 weeks and was told we could not take 6 days off thats when I unloaded on dispatch and told him he could find his truck in fontana.C/YA
Twixie Thanks this. -
Hey 8324147074a, we just got home after out for 6 weeks. No problem takin 6 days off. I don't blame you for cleaning out your truck. That's a pretty lousy thing to do to drivers after being out for 8 weeks. We are not having any major problems with IDC so far. Alot of solo driver runs, which sucks for a team but these days any miles are good!! What company are you and your wife with now?
dukeofearl Thanks this. -
me and the wife went to work for new century in jan 06 and stayed there til jan this year.My wife had a knee surgery and shes not going back on the truck and they won't take me back as a solo cause I live west of the mississpi.Do'nt matter any way we payed our house off and I'm collecting NJ unemployment.Best of luck to you and the wife
