Yeah, yeah, yeah, you have been singing the same tired praise on this thread for so long that we all have it memorized, i.e. Marten is the best company in the world and you are the best driver in the world. We get it already, Kabar !! Enough!!
What nobody seems to able to get you to understand is that you are singing praise on the wrong thread. FAIL !! You should be posting at http://www.thetruckersreport.com/truckingindustryforum/discuss-your-favorite-trucking-company-here/
which is the forum to discuss your favorite trucking company. You can't even post on the correct thread, so how much competence can we truly believe that you possess? Don't you get it? You're on the wrong thread! Do you find yourself going the wrong way on one-way streets as well? How can you possibly explain your total FAILURE to find the correct thread for your posts? (HINT: I provided the link above)

The facts on Marten's equipment, Kabar, is that they fail vehicle inspections 36.89 percent of the time. This is a failure rate higher than Marten had before the economy crashed and their big purge of drivers. In my humble opinion, anything over 25% becomes a considerable burden on the driver with having to delay for repairs or delay over being put out of service. Most companies I have worked for kept their stats at under 25%.
The Marten drivers are failing driver inspections 55.55 % of the time. This is not as bad as Marten's all time high, but is worse than before the economy crashed and their big driver purge. For your information, DOT officers routinely type in your license plate when you cross a scale to take a look at your safestat. If the score is over 45% (to the best of my memory), then they will want to inspect the driver if there is available manpower. Inspecting the driver means logbook, medical card, CDL, etc. And, of course, the log book is the primary source of violations with driver inspections. A score over 75% means that the officer HAS to inspect the driver if there is available manpower to do so. A score under 45% doesn't mean there will not be inspections, it just means that you won't be targeted for extra enforcement.
My information comes from an Oregon DOT officer that very courteously gave me an overview of the system. Since then, I go to safestat to check the score of a company before I apply, or to check my carrier's updated score every six months so I know what to expect when I cross scales.
You can view the stats on Marten or any other carrier at
http://ai.fmcsa.dot.gov/SafeStat/di...dURL=/SafeStat/SafeStatMain.asp&PageN=results
The stats are updated at 6 month intervals.
With CVSA 2010, the dot will begin scoring each driver individually, instead of lumping all Marten driver's scores together as in the past. Same for vehicle inspections, as each failed vehicle inspection, or out of service violation, will be on the individual drivers record. I hope to see safestat make the changes so I can view my own stats there someday, but as of today safestat is still on the old model. Hope this helps. -
I gotta ask Duke, Some one piss in your Wheaties or are you intimidated by Kabar? So he doesn't agree with you, So he is doing well where you failed. Are you really that scared of a different opinion? Or is it that you know he's right and that your failure at Marten is just that, YOUR FAILURE.
Lonesome Thanks this. -
Marten is just like the rest! They have many problems just like the other carriers, spefically the way they treat people. When you are in the office they are nice, but if your out on the road they don't want to help. If a Randy Marten wants to save money he will lower the points so drivers can be fired. Marten uses a point system to rate the drivers safety record. There is Zero Tollerancefor accidents. If you have one regardless of who is at fault "Your Fired". I worked for them for 6 months and I did make good money but i never got home and I had to run 18 hours on some loads to get it there on time because the load was dispatched a day late (Dallas Regional office over booked loads and couldn't make on time pick-up, but still promised on-time delivery. I lefet because i got tired of the Half-Truths and Deception from Mr Colby Stephens the Fleet Manager at Dallas.
skibum_63 and dukeofearl Thank this. -

dukeofearl,
Great info about safety stats! thanks! I'm going to listen to someone like this who takes the time to research things and has experience than a rosy eyed newb. Sorry, I'm not much more than a newb myself with <2 years experience, so I try to listen and ask questions over running my mouth.dukeofearl Thanks this. -
ok... in all fairness to Marten Transport.... I contacted them in reference to them putting the abandoned truck on my dak and charging me the truck retrieval fee.... after they looked at my record with them and realized that I had an impecable record of on time pick ups and deliveries and never tore up any equipment.. And also realized that I was being completely truthful about returning the truck and equipment, as well as detailing it before turning it in.. they took this off my DAK and refunded me the truck retrieval fee....
I really couldnt believe that a company would do a driver that way and well they made good on it by retracting all charges.... Kudos to you Marten Transportdukeofearl Thanks this. -
It's cheaper in the long run to do it this way than having to fight a pissed off driver that's correct! -
thats great benham good too hear they cleared ur dac. i will be in orient. on tues the 15th in forest park ga. i have talk too plenty of actual marten drivers right hear in lakeland that are running the fla regional they are happy and making money and they are even getting good hometime and they have very good trucks didnt see any junk on the yard. i will say it again and again if anyone makes theyre decision from what they read on hear they could be making a huge mistake telcobilly if u want to know the truth get out there and talk to some of theyre drivers in person ACTUAL DRIVERS not this crap on hear like duke of earl it sounds like hes got a hardon for something or somebody , u cant listen too that crap theyre safety stats are not bad and are not out of line at all.

It still speaks volumes about their attitude towards drivers when the first reaction is to hammer them. You had to go the extra mile to clear your name/DAC, they wouldn't have done it on their own.
