Glad to hear from you again Kansas. I never thought about someone stealing truck batteries, fuel yes.

I thought about putting locks on fuel tanks but thought I would probably lose the key to unlock them.

Big John, if I were down there I would have towed you home, then drank a beer with you! Gotta help guys out, you never know when you'll need it yourself. Hope your problems turn out to be minor. I agree - take it to an engine shop. They know their product. On a side note, just found soot in my stacks tonight. Not a big deal unless you have a DPF! Then it means you've got problems! Good thing I've still got warranty left, but doesn't make me feel good about later in the future. My Cummins mechanic says a DPF can cost $6000. I thought the whole point of buying new was to avoid time in the shop???:biggrin_2559:

I think the new ones spend more time in the shop. I wished I kept my old Pete and just rebuilt it. I have seen the trouble that the Kansas milk hauler Mies & Sons have gone threw with their new ones. Have you seen the new Pete's with the urea tank and the new step box on the passenger side that all the crap is in. Glad I don't have one of them.

Some guys will stop and help and do everything they can and others will drive right on by and never look your way. Bill the beer would have been on me if you were in the neighborhood.

Yeah Doonan has a 388 with the urea system on it. It looks like nothing but trouble.

The blue one w/ 48" bunk? Yeah that has "problem" written all over it and it weighs more and cost more and I don't think you can buy enough warranty. I hope they keep making kits because that is what I see in my future.

I hear ya. Up until this little episode, I can't complain about my truck. It's been in the shop only once in 180,000 miles. BUT...if this is the beginning of a trend, a glider will definitely be in my future too! 6NZ CAT all the way baby!:biggrin_255:

Little update on my truck. I pulled into the shop today and it still sounded bad, it sounded good if it was a 3408 Cat under their because that is what it sounded like. A friend of mine pulled the covers off and took a look, we cranked it over a few times, he went threw and made sure everything looked okay from the top and moved the injector wires around and made sure they were tight. I started it up again and it sounded normal, hit the fuel and no cuttin out. Put everything back together and run it down the road and back and she run just like normal. Who knows.
