A great share of us have likely hauled Goobermint Motors loads. I'm sitting on one right now.
The bill says 10k pound load. No way, I haven't scaled the truck, but this load sure feels MUCH less than that. In fact, the only way I know I'm loaded is because I saw it before the guard put the seal on. It's all nose loaded, maybe taking up 8 feet or so of space.
Now, since Goobermint Motors was the recipient of mega tax dollars, yeah I know, they paid it back, wouldn't it make sense that you just MIGHT want to FULLY load a 53' trailer? Wouldn't that make a little more sense? As in cheaper?![]()

most of the big manufacturers have very little inventory so they have cut times for the load because if they don't get some inventory the line shuts down so they have a cut time no matter how much is in the truck full or partial load at a certain time the load goes on down the road

I hauled a full load of "steering components" for delphi, a GM company, once. So they dont do that on EVERY load...

Yepper, as in JIT. It sure seems like a waste though, I suppose it makes sense, just not to me.

I've had a few GM loads that were full, but mostly like this unless I'm hauling empty racks.
Chrysler seems to be the one that loads it up.
It would be interesting to find out what trucking companies charge to haul freight like this, it can't be cheap.

GM beats up freight carriers on prices so bad you wouldn't believe it. I worked for a Tier 3 automotive supplier for years in the shipping department. They are so bad at paying bills on time and beat their vendors up on prices so bad it is hard to believe anyone makes any money.
For example, let's say when you go into a GM dealership and said you wanted to know how much all the folks there made in salary and how much they paid for rent for the real estate so you could figure out how much you would pay for a car. That is the level of scrutiny that GM puts their suppliers under. They have their own preferred carrier program and they surely beat them down to little or no profit under the old "make it up in volume" philosophy.
It's kind of like trickle down economics.
I've had plenty of people trickle down my back and try to tell me it's raining.
