    Hi Pete and welcome!

Reading the forums here is one of the best things you can do. You
get a chance to see it from all sides. Its like anything else, the better
prepared you are the better your chances are of success.

He is doing very well and enjoying what he is doing. He sent me a random
text yesterday says "God I love driving this!" :biggrin_2559: A good calling and texting
plan is key. Those random texts let me know he thinks of me, makes me
feel involved. He tries to call a couple of times a day, will text when sitting
in traffic or waiting to be off loaded etc.

Our kids are grown and I think he actually talks to them more now, prob
because when he he isnt driving there isnt alot to do. I think it is harder
for me, I'm stuck at home with the same old life and he is out having fun. :biggrin_25523: OK thats how it feels. But he is happy with it,
and that really does make it easier for me.

I'm sure there are moments when he gets homesick but for us the good outweighs
the bad so far. And when he is home, the time together matters, we don't
    take that for granted. :biggrin_25526:

haha, thanks cookie, you got me wanting to look more into it. I think about being on the road and seeing all of the US but leaving my family for weeks at a time seems a little hard for me.

Have you ever talked to your hubby about finding something local in the near future? or is he pretty content with what he is doing? I appreciate the feed back. :biggrin_25519:

We knew going in he would need to "pay his dues" for at least a year. For the experience and to pay back the loan for schooling. We have talked about checking into jobs closer to home after that, but if he is still happy doing what he is doing then he will stay with it.

Towards the end of summer when things slow down for me at work I plan on going with him in the truck now and then. This will let me see how life is for him and will give us time together.

One thing I forgot to mention is your wife/girlfriend/SO should take a look at the Ladies Only (which isnt ladies only :biggrin_2559: )forum here. Will give them a good idea what to expect and ideas on how to cope.

He is really enjoying himself. The class is small and so everyone gets good instructor time and road time. Like I said he has driven before, but was having trouble with the newer shifting. Lol he was used to reving hard, now he doesnt hafta.
Instructor he has is extremely experienced and never yells or cusses. Cussing is a dollar fine btw, lol.
He is looking forward to Friday.

Update, hubby is doing mostly runs from Sumner WA to Portland OR(and lots of stuff in between). His "ole girl" is a 06 frieghtliner and he is becoming quite fond of her. The interior is scruffy but says she runs like a youngster.

He had 14 loads, 1864 loaded miles 246 mt last week. Makes for a decent check this week. (decent as in better) So far he has gotten home every weekend.

Only issue he had was he gave up trying to get some repairs done in Sumner and got them done in Lewiston. Other than that, he is still having fun and learning lots. :biggrin_2559:
