Kroger in houston also sucks. My appt was at seven pm and i got out of there at eleven thirty. Real tight backing in there also. Took a covenant thirty minutes to get it in the hole. When I went in to get my paperwork the guy had just went to lunch, and had to wait forty five minutes for him to return. Then had to roll one mile over to the budweiser plant at ten m.p.h. so that my E-log wouldn't kick in (my 14 was up). Picked up my drop/hook load, then crawled over to the hole in the wall truck stop accross the street. All this and my E-log still showing me in the sleeper. As more and more carriers go to paperless logs, you will understand why you see many trucks crawling along at ten m.p.h. in town in the middle of the night!

I delivered to that Kroger in Atlanta once around 8-9 years ago. I had a 1900 appt and got a door at 2200. They did have me unloaded in less than an hour so that wasn't bad but the way it's setup, most of the docks have to be blindsided into. I lucked out as I got a door at the far end where the fuel island is for the Kroger trucks. I pulled through the fuel island and did a straight line back.

And yes, that Pilot sucks. I had to sit there for four hours until my appt.

Oh I HATE this dump! Tight docks. Rude guard shack people. And I was told occasionally the cops come and write the trucks tickets for parking in the no parking zone on the street. It's one of those places if I never go back it'll be to soon!

Yup this place scares me. I've been there many times, the last time I was there it was late at night and when I leave and drive past the Pilot I had two lot lizards dart in front of my truck and what I can only assume was a drug dealer and or pimp step infront of my truck trying to get me to stop. I sped up swung around him and hoped my trailer missed him. I really don't see how anyone could sleep at that Pilot, I refuse to even stop for a cup of coffee at that place... I do like the t-shirt idea HA!

I was at this Kroger DC on 06/15/10 and had the same problems most of ya all did. Arrived at 1800 for a 1900 appt. Since it was my 1st time there & didn't know any better...I drove straight into the guard shack to check in. Was told, "yup, right place BUT....you need to go park out on the street WALK back up here & check in. Go down to stop sign, make a left, then another left, then another left, then a right to get back out to the street. Took me 20 mins. just to get back out to the street, because of how congested it was. Then, took me another 20-30 mins to find a frickin' place to park. Did not get called for a dock til 2230...3 1/2 hrs. AFTER appt. time. Granted, it only took the lumpers # 1 1/2 hrs. to unload and breakdown my load..at a cost of $170 (glad I didn't have to pay the lumper fee. :biggrin_25513: Then had to find a place to park on the street to finish 10 hr. break....when along came that lot lizard ya all are talking about. Don't know if she/he was the same one. But this broad not only fell out of the ugly tree, but she/he hit EVERY BRANCH ON THE WAY DOWN. I told my fleet manager to NEVER..EVER send me here again. I don't care if I have to sit and wait for 24 hrs. for another dispatch. That I will REFUSE to go back to that cess pool.

Get used to the congestion, delays, lumper costs - most grocery warehouses are a cluster. Only difference is the abundance/lack of lot lizards. There are well run places that will just totally scare ya - because of the total night and day feel - and then there are the Krogers, Gordon Food Services, Syscos, etc.

    Ever been to Jessup MD?

went to the one on the other side of atl last week, east point. same deal, park on the street, walk to the guard shack, walk back to your truck.got in on time for my 5 am appt, got out 3 hours later, lumper was prepaid. some of the docks are nearly impossible to get into is my gripe. i got lucky, mine was infront of the gate. 4 docks down, another driver struggled for for 20 mins, with me watching his blind side, due to all the kroger bobtails parked in front of the docks. their union drivers made no effort to move their trucks for him , until he got docked, the they all left.
