It just won't quit raining here. Rained Sunday night about 1.3", got another .3" after lunch yesterday, according to the radar, missed 2 storms that went north of us about 7 and 10 last night, then got another 1" last night about 1. The wind and thunder woke me up, I watched outside for a few minutes, wondered at what point I should head for the basement, but after about 10 minutes it seemed to calm down a little. South of us got some wind damage, not sure if it was considered a tornado or just straight line wind. Another storm went north of us this morning, but it is raining right now and more about an hour west of us. A friend that lives over in the Mississippi river bottom said they are beginning to get nervous, it has risen at least 2 ft the last couple days, only about 3 more ft and it will be causing problems. The levees haven't been fixed since the '08 flood.

Did the wheat cutting resume yet, or is it still wet out there?

    dairyman Thanks this.

Dairyman the mechanic ordered it but it didn't get here yet or at least he hasn't got it and called yet. When it acts up I just watch the tach and when it finally falls back I can shift. He did get the new brake shoes put on. I don't know what it is about standing by those galvanized fuel tanks in the sun but it is hot. We've got a bunch more rice contracted to move before July 1 so that's got to start soon.

    dairyman Thanks this.

Wheat harvest has been going hard last 5-6 days. Talked to farmer today his yield was in the 40's...which isn't too bad. His combine was down today otherwise thought he would be done Sat.

Been transferring a lot of wheat, to bad the rate isn't higher. It's better than it was but it isn't harvest rates.

Pretty new to the business- 1 year hauling water for the oil field industry - its my understanding that its easier to get experience hauling hoppers and thats what I need is truck time. Is this true? If so, any suggestions on who to call in the col, neb, ks, ok region? Thanks....

You're going to have to be a little more specific about the 30 cents a bushel. Is this out of field? how many miles? etc.

I don't know whether it's easier or not. Check on internet in those states...or talk to some people at elevators.

That's what I thought was odd, 30 cents per bushel and the run's are 240 round trip. Sorry about the earlier post I thought maybe I was missing something also so was waiting to find out more. The other field I was hauling out of was app 14 miles and app 145.00 per load period. I was leary when another person calling was having trouble getting any trucks......this time of year with all the rain and trucks sitting somethings not adding up.
And, it's still raining with more added to the forecast............
