A % of truckers will tear up an anvil with a rubber hammer. Just go into some of the nice restrooms like Bosselmans in Grand Island, NE and look at the shaving cream all over the place, unflushed toilets, paper towels not thrown into one of the numerous cans. There are a lot of nasty , filthy , slobs hitting every truck stop in the country. You would have to have attendant to watch your equipment 24/7 and some would still find a way to either tear it up or crap on it. I like the idea and I hope you can make it work. Most who want some exercise either walk, carry some weights or rubber resistance system, or other type of device. Walking and stretching are my 2 main things. Have a good dvd that combines some palates and yoga stuff that I do a lot after a mile or two walk. Have lot of stuff at home for heavier workout.

The "Chicagoland i55 truckstop" in bolingbrook, IL, i55 exit 267, while being a total ########, having the worst #### up of a restaurant around, has an excersize room. It's also up a long set of stairs, lol.
So it's not a totally un-explored idea, and its not a totally unique idea. However...it IS a good idea.
Buy some "storage" trailers...AKA 25 year old trailers that are worthless piles of crap, and some excersize equipment (goodwill!! rummage sales!!)
Convert the trailers with an AC/electric heat unit, put insulation and wall paneling in, a nice floor, and set up plenty of electrical outlets. Put some seating in too.
Approach the truckstops and tell them your idea. They'll probably want to charge you rent. Maybe charge a very small fee to use the equipment, like $1 for all day.....
CSA 2010 does not have anything to do with health whatsoever. It also is nothing, in general. The states all had their own computer systems anyhow (except apparently alabama, where i watched a roadside scalemaster write my weights down IN A NOTEBOOK?!). The only difference is this is linked. That's all. I have heard so many stories about CSA 2010 that it pisses me the hell off. A truckstop lawyer recently told me that the points go on your license, and if you get 12 you cant drive anything. Bull.....
What the HELL does that have to do with health?
I didnt know that.Big Duker Thanks this. -
The whole diabetic deal is what I am talking about phroziac also the high BP. Working out and eating healthy will keep you from becoming a diabetic or it will keep it under control if you already are one.
Just doing some basic walking or speed walking is very good for you. Your body will actually burn more fat with your heart rate between 130 and 140 then it will over 140. 140 is the limit for burning more fat but once it goes higher your still burning fat it is just more of a cardio work out which would be working out your heart being a muscle.
LOL I am from like 15 minutes from the I-55 truckstop there in bolingbrook and I had no idea that there is a workout room there. O and that place is a ****hole and watchout for those drivers in there trying to sell that high speed chicken feed, there will be a 300+ pound blad white guy who is a cop in there running after you. Hes not a nice guy at all I know this first hand, we are good HS friends.
That place is also one of the largest drug trafficing areas in the outter chicagoland area.... -
There are a few drivers who would welcome work-out rooms, but very few. If you notice, most drivers are way out of shape, love those Wendys/Taco Bell/Subway fast food food courts as well as the buffets. They park in the front rows or, the red curbs to be near the fuel desk (cause they don't like to walk more than 20 feet) AND their free time is spent watching "I Love Lucy" re-runs in the lounge OR, playing those mindless toy soldier games in the gameroom. I don't think working out is on their minds while catching 10 at the truck stop.

I heard a rumor that besides the BMI that drivers shouldn't have a neck measurement over 17 inches? Is there any truth to that? Because there are alot of tall guys that are not fat who just inherited big necks out there.

Subway is not bad for you Allow Me. Wendy's and taco bell on the other hand are. If you eat something at subway say a foot long tuna with lettuce and some other veggies on it and some mustard instead of mayo that is #### healthy and it has everything you need. A ton of protein, the carbs from the bread and good carbs if you get wheat and then the veggies.
-
Have you checked the sodium and unsaturated fat in a tuna Subway? Definitely not healthy. I used to eat them thinking the tuna would be healthy and then I checked the food value and started making my own from a can of tuna and a whole wheat bun.
-
Yeah but then you still have the smell of the tuna. Got to be some kind of bad stuff in there.
I am not a tuna fan. But I will do the same thing w/ a can of white meat chicken. Just read the can and find one w/ as little crap as possible added. Put it on wheat, rye, pumpernickel . I like about all bread. Found a mayonnaise by smart beat. Use a little of that. Has all the good oil. Still fat in there but as for now they say you need some good fats in your diet. But that could change at any moment. You can dress these things up w/ a little relish or chow chow. At least you know what you are getting. Still eat what ever I want 1 night a week. But I don't crave the chicken fried steak or Mexican pigout like when I was younger. And will still fight for a good tomato. Hard to find these days. Got to smell them just like cantelopes, peaches and other fruits and veggies. If they don't smell the way they are supposed to I figure they were strip mined in Costa Rica or Mexico and pass.

Go to subway and get the turkey sub with NO cheese No spreads or mayo maybe yellow mustard and tons of veggies......each 6 inch is only around 350 in calories. They have menus. The real sneaky fat calories come from the spreads and cheese.
