I was hired by Heartland one time. I went through their orientation which lasted three days and they put me and some other drivers up at a nice hotel. Took us out to lunch everyday, made it look great. After orientation I had to ride with another driver down to Jacksonville, Fl to their terminal there to pick my truck up and get dispatched. I got there and was put up in another hotel. Now this one I was afraid to shower in, it was so nasty. The next morning someone was suppose to come and get me around 8:00 a.m. Well, I never go picked up till 10:00 a.m. I was taken to the yard, assigned a truck that had grease all over the side, and I was told by another driver that you had to buy 409 or some other degreaser to get the grease off since their truck wash was only a high pressure washer. Then after getting everything in my truck and running it through the truck wash, I went to dispatch. Dispatch told me they had a load for me (a Sears load), but I wouldn't be dispatched out till midnight. They actually thought I was going to sit around in a hole-in-the-wall area with a picnic table for 12 hours waiting on a load. I went in to dispatch and told them I had changed my mind about the job, had one of their drivers take me to the airport, I rented a car and went home. Oh they keep sending me post cards about how much they are paying. I didn't care for their Internationals, slow ones at that, anyhow.

If they had a load for you, why did they not just let you leave with it?

I have a friend who works for Hartland, pay is fine...
this is what I don't like about the company
They tell you when to shut down
Example: He was in mass last week and was told he had to shut down because there was snow in the area. he called them up and told them there was no snow where he was at, they said that's their policy and he had to shut down even if it was not snowing where he was at.
So if the weather is bad near you then you have no choice but to shut down.

Fuel, they send you a fuel plan, you have to follow it to the"T", another words they tell you to get 80 gallons then you have to get 80 gallons. If you get more they will charge you for it.

And keep in mind there are sometimes 2-3 fuel stops on a 600 mile route sometimes.

If you can deal with that (he does) then you can make some decent money with Hartland.

I have been on the road twenty years all I can say about Heartland is run and run fast if they offer you a job it's the worst company in the business I was told home at least once a week it's a joke they think home means a couple of hours passing by with a quick stop and they made mistakes on your pay often if you don't catch it you lose if you do catch they say they made a mistake and offer a comcheck I worked over two months making 3 or 4 hundred dollars a week just sitting around waiting to load or unload when I tried to quit I was offered this program where you are guarenteed 825 a week worked fine for a few weeks then I got home two days the next week check was 312 dollars supposedly I was off program to many days tried to turn in truck in Atlanta again was sent three preplans to do after I told them I quit was told do all three or we will report you as quit under dispatch how can you quit they keep sending preplans
My advice is stay away from Heartland:biggrin_25513:

:biggrin_25510: I am the wife of a Heartland driver :biggrin_2551: I have had to sell most of my clothes and shoes on e-bay as most weeks my husband works seven days and gets around 312.17 direct deposit.
They start taking insurance 61 dollars a week one month before it goes into effect, when asked about it it's to cover you if you are out sick.Don't ask for that 240 dollars back when you leave it's in neverwas land.
I just am thankful I had good taste and bought nice clothes when my husband worked for honest company to which he is going back
