Yes I have. All of the CC's and tech schools in SC use a third party to administer the classes, Xtra Mile being the most common. Since the program is not done by the school itself, there is no federal student loans available for it. I've asked about the WIA thing, but was told that since I have a skill, 10+ yrs in IT, that I don't qualify for it.
I did talk to Sage, but the first three companys they recommended were CR England, Werner and Swift, I decided not to go there. I did however fix one of their computers while I was there and got a check from them.
So right now I am selling my project car to hopefully raise funds for school.
If that doesn't work, then I guess it's off to a mill. -
Truck driving is very similar to the military. It requires you to be constantly learning, be in the right place doing the right thing and you are surrounded by people doing the same thing.
-
If you are not working now then you should check with your state for retraining. Many states are paying for truck driving schools.
Also you can check with accredited schools. If you go to an accredited school you can get student loans and possibly pell grants to pay for school. That way you do not need to have cash up front, and many good company's only hire from good schools. -
The way i always run is im late till i get there i spend all my extra time on the other side then theres a chance to drop early or drop the load or get the load swaped out just remember keep the left door closed and hammer down

I do spend all my time stateside now. Most people speak some english and the exchange rate is one to one!
-
I've checked into the government funding, but I'm not eligible since I have a skill, can't use it, but I have one.
Thanks for the accredited school tip. I did some searching, but wasn't able to find any in SC. I'll keep looking for one, I went back 3 pages worth in Google, but didn't find anything. -
Well JJ found out yesterday that Cargo have dropped the pay rate.........same ol same ol ####te just a different day!!
-
Well that sux Jess. Other companies are raising their's, wonder why cargo dropped?
Thank you God for being willing to look after fools and trk drvrs and I dang sure qualify as both right now. Picked up my load yesterday going to commiefornia (only my 2nd time there), in the pouring rain and got soaked. Went and scaled out and completely misread my scale ticket. It was 35060 and for some reason, my mind saw 34060. Moved 1 hole and rocked on. Got pulled in at the NM POE and got a lvl 3. Reason? On this 660, KW decided to put a piano hinge on it so that the tag blows up under the trk. Couldn't see the tag so pulled me in. Passed with flying colors and NOTHING was said about being overweight.
Wasn't till I was being pulled into the POE in AZ that my mind finally woke up and panic set in. Had to go inside there also and all they wanted to see was my registration, thank you sir, drive on. How can one get so dang lucky? Can be sure, that the tandems are now set correctly!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
