Cops: NY Man Kills Infant Son, is Shot by Troopers

VIENNA, N.Y. - A young father with a long criminal history, including assault charges, fatally shot his 3-month-old son in front of Tuesday morning, then was shot and critically wounded by officers.
Adam Theall, 21, was outside the home in rural Oneida County in upstate New York when troopers arrived after getting 911 calls around 9:30 a.m. that he had threatened to kill the child.
He fired a shotgun at the baby, Eithen Theall, then turned it on the three troopers who had arrived at the scene, according to State. Francis Coots. They all fired at him.

Theall was on probation for second-degree vehicular assault and had also been charged with and endangering the welfare of a child.

Why was he even near this baby? I guess the authorities just wanted to keep the family unit intact./

But then it doesn't make much sense here:

Theall, of nearby Rome, was hit several times and was in critical condition. Police had been called for domestic disputes in the past at the house, which is in a of widely separated homes about 200 miles northwest of New York City. The child's mother was at the home during the attack.

So do we assume he didn't live there and came to the house? If my husband/SO was volatile and showed a propensity to harm a child, like this guy, I wouldn't let him near my kid/s or the house. But then I don't know all the particulars. I will wait to find out the details of this very tragic event. I hope God will heal the hearts broken from this horrible incident.

A restraining order often times isnt worth the paper its written on,and often serves to inflate the situation even more.

God has a special seat next to him for this baby.

Im so glad the cops did us a favor and didnt let "daddy"sit in jail watching TV until his eventual parole date.
