I read somewhere that the stores who do this, are the one's who don't own the property the store sits on, it is leased to them. And the owners of the property are the one's who don't want the big trucks parking there.
I'm not defending Wal-Mart, because I don't like to shop there, anyway. We prefer to find a Super Target....better quality merchandise, and very many of them are trucker-friendly. They are just harder to find than Wally world.
Wal Mart...Shame On You!

Correct, often there ARE reasons, other than just not being truck friendly !!
simplyred1962 Thanks this. -
I agree. Infact, I live right near the one in Benton Harbor, MI, exit 29 on I94. I've seen people park trucks there for weeks at a time...i assume they asked permission first. Place turns into a truck stop in bad weather when the flying hook "fills up" (funny thing is theres a dirt parking area of the flying hook that nobody seems to think exists..any time its "full" and everyone else is double parking...i go back there and its empty. whiskey tango foxtrot?).
The walmart has an unofficial truck parking area.....plenty of space for a bunch of trucks, even on black friday...it's got big "NO TRUCKS ALL VIOLATORS WILL BE TOWED" signs but i've never seen a truck towed out before. Lines painted for car parking back there. But i've NEVER seen a car park over there....and the parking lot is infact sunk several feet lower than the rest of the parking lot, from the trucks.
Neat trick here....if you're in "benton harlem" as the locals call it, and the flying hook is full and the walmart's unofficial truck parking is full (ive seen it!), Pri Mart at exit 29 is the only hole in the wall truckstop in town with more than just a couple slots of overnight parking spaces. If they're full, there's an abandoned jewel/osco across the street from 777 Napier (big apartment complex). Just get off 94 at exit 30/Napier Rd, drive the opposite direction from the US31 signage, and drive into town, past Napier and state road 139, and its not very far past that intersection...there's usually trucks parked there, easy to find.
Do you really believe that? It used to be that walmart ran an italian company that owned most walmart stores, and that walmart was basically paying themselves rent..and then taking tax deductions on it, and the italian company did not have to pay income tax on the rent payments......cough cough cough.
Target is just as evil as walmart. -
Phroziac I know for a fact that some of these Wal-Marts aren't able to allow trucks on their lots. At times this will be because they couldn't buy the property, and other times the city in which they are located won't allow the trucks in there.

I don't blame them for not wanting truckers in their parking lots, you ever see the mess some of the slobs leave. I was doing groceries one night and the road to the highway goes through the wal mart parking lot and a G3 Group tractor comes flying into the parking lot stops right in the middle of it and the diver jumps out to have pi$$ right there. You can thank guys like him for getting everyone else kicked out.

A lot of times it's not Walmart that's the cuplrit. It's local ordinances. I live in Dayton, Ohio, my home terminal is 60 miles away in Columbus. I can't park anywhere in Dayton, Walmart or any other place for that matter. They will tow you in a heart beat. One time I pulled into the Walmart near my house to meet my wife for ten minutes while I dropped something off for her. She pulled away, I sat there for another 5 minutes and sure enough, the tow truck came along and started trying to hook me up while I was sitting behind the wheel.
There are plenty of truck friendly Walmarts, you just have to learn which ones to steer clear of. A lot of times that beam will be there because they don't want you in the front parking lot, but theres more than enough room around back behind the car lube bays.simplyred1962 Thanks this. -
When I park anywhere, a shopping center, public rest area, or even a truck stop, I try to leave the place as clean if not cleaner than I left it. If I see a bunch of trash laying around, I have no problem picking it up, as long as it's not a pee bottle.. As for pee bottles, I'll run over them if I can. That way the nastiness inside evaporates and what's left isn't near as awful to the person who eventually does have to pick it up.JerrytAZ and simplyred1962 Thank this.

I'd hate to be the mechanic working on your truck!

Yeah... and did you ever see the mess some of the four-wheeler driving customers leave? Pissing all over the parking lot... throwing beer bottles... trash... vomit....
Maybe they need to modify those yellow bars to prohibit ANY vehicles from getting in the lot. That would work to keep the scum out. And just for good measure, put chains across the entrance doors too... so no one can get in and mess up the store. -
...which are drafted by owners of towing companies who sit on the city council.
Ever wonder who supplies those signs they post in the lots?
