You hit the nail on the head. I would say the majority is unverifiable references, and work history. And stuff like " well my cdl is suspended, but with a few weeks in the truck I can make enough to get it back ". And about taking the trucks home. I would rather that. I get them a final haul towards the house. I dont look for drivers just from around here. But, I guess it just takes time and someone that is looking for what i am offering.
-
are you still looking for a driver? what experience are you expecting?
-
Yeah, I am still looking. I am not real picky on experience. I am just looking for a GOOD driver. They wont let me post personal info, and I cant private message you until i have 20 posts. If you are interested reply to this, and I will make a way to contact you. If you have 20+ posts, private message me. Or, I also frequent the Internet Truckstop forum. www.truckstop.com. I use the same user name on there.

Okay, here's the deal.
I don't have a CDL or the money for to get one. I also don't have the money for the plane ticket from Australia.
However, I do have more than 4 million miles under my ### and 26 years of experience driving tractor trailers.
Now if you can come up with a suitable arrangement whereby I can pay back the airplane ticket and cost of the CDL by reasonable weekly installments from my wages, (providing of course a work permit can also be arranged for me), I'll jump on the first available United Airlines plane to O'hare in Chicago.
What am I offering in return you may ask? I'll drive your truck anywhere you wish to send me within your freight distribution area. I'll also run legal or I won't run at all. As the truck will essentially be my home, I can guarantee to you that it will be spotless inside and out.
In essence the deal I'm offering is this, you arrange my work permit, my plane ticket, visa and CDL. In return, I guarantee to work for you for one year and have the cost of the above items deducted in installments from my paycheck on a (I presume) weekly basis. At the end of the initial year of tenure I will also expect that we will sit down and discuss/renegotiate me staying on with you further.
I will of course expect such an arrangement to be made via a contract binding on both parties with the following disclaimer:
The first time anything you've already offered and that we reach agreement on doesn't happen, the deal becomes null and void and I head back home.
This is a bona fide offer. If you're interested, let me know through this forum and I'll arrange a way for us to speak more privately and in depth about your situation/proposition.
Yours in trucking

heh...that's a good one...heheheheh....
I love to read messageboards and just laugh....
but at any rate...I worked for owner ops for the last four years and things were always good for me. It was a good arrangement...I'd be willing to discuss the possibility of driving for you if you are still looking for a hardworking one. I have over 575,000 safe miles...no accidents. I'd give you a link to my resume, but they won't allow it until I talk 20 times...give us a way to talk to you... -

Good luck finding a good driver. -
I read your post and some of the replies and found that they have a good point. I only had ten months driving experiance and I found a company that started me out at .39 cents per mile and put me in a 2006 Century class freightliner( nice truck) with bennies, profit sharing and all the work I can handle. With what you are offering I can see you would have trouble finding drivers. I was able to query about a thousand companies from the privacy of my comp. terminal. Perhaps you should raise your rates so you could pay more. goodluck drive55cat

I have about 12 years driving and not sure how many more running the family trucking business.
everything you list sounds good except the fallowing.
the truck. I don't mind a freightliner but it's old and old means downtime.
pay is low. Sorry to say it but it is. If you want someone with any experience you need better wages. as a comparision I make : $.43cpm ALL miles paid off the hub, $25 drops on ALL drops, $25 per diem, $1500 a year in saefty bonuses (yes I get them....usually) Longevity bonus which is up to $1000 this year, christmas bonus, 3 weeks vacation paid ( you get all vacation on your first day) I get good miles 2800 to 3000 and occasionally get 4000 or more on the coast. I think I made $64k last year, I'd have to double check though.
I'l be looking for a new job in TX if you want to hire out of there and offer more money I'l talk about it with you.
