when you take your restart at your home terminal, & if your boss gives the go-ahead, go practice backing between 2 trailers. streight-line, angle & blind side. do this about 1-2 hours a day. all you need is practice, practice, practice.

 

I got officialy hire for Schneider on 06/25. nice company, nice Orientation, now im just waiting for my trainer!!!

Hello all

I am an experienced class A driver who has been doing local driving for 20 years and I start the 4 day orientation with Schneider in Fontana, Ca. on August 22.

They are starting me at 35 CPM. Don`t know if that is about average or standard for starting with a company as I have always been payed hourly and it is difficult to get their payscale. However, recruiter told me that newbies out of school start at 29 CPM, so I guess 35 ain`t too shabby for a local guy who is starting to do regional work.

The recruiter was very low pressure and very professional. I did not get the impression I was talking to a used car salesman who was telling me everything I wanted to hear or how great I will do with them. Just waiting now on results for hair/urine tests.

One woman I talked to at their corporate office who was reviewing my medical history, etc. said something strange about I cannot take any antihistimines while in the truck. I can only imagine it has to do with possible false positives or ???

I still don`t get it with the antihistimine thing. I figured they make you sleepy as opposed to keeping you awake and then I did some searching on the net and read about some antihistimines giving false positives for meth or speed.

I reckon I should have just asked her but she was reading me a list of do`s & dont`s like no firearms in the truck, no antihistimines, gotta have workshoes, etc. etc.

Hey Jason ! How is the quallcom working ? I have been reading that the map/directions feature is not all that good but maybe what I was reading was for an older model/program. What say you ?

Also... is the mileage based on practical or short miles ?

 

Any idea what type of miles the regional guys are averaging every week?

 

They may have been telling you not to because of the false positive for your drug screen.
Now when driving, you don't want anything that can make you drowsy.

 

Also hired on with SNI, but on the L/P side of things. From reading everyone's post here, sound like I made the right decision. One thing that I find strange, I do not have to take a pre-screen physical or drug screen. Was told that it will all be handled in Green Bay. Finance called me today to ask what kinda truck I want for my first year, and now they are are going to find one and get it to GB so that it will be ready. Now just have to wait and see what happens after I give my 2 weeks notice here. See if I finish the 2 weeks or if they say "Good Bye" Sooner. One thing that SNI said, if they say good bye sooner, let them know, and they will get me to orientation sooner.
