Hi to one and all.I've been lurking on this site for six months or so. Lots of good info and fun. I'm not an 18 wheeler driver just a 12 wheeler dump truck driver. (There's rocks in my box !!):biggrin_25522:I did drive otr for a short time till this local job became available. I've driven straight trucks for about eight years or so. To the mods an to everyone else ... Thanks for all the info!!

If it walks like a truck, quacks like a truck, looks like a truck it must be a truck. The number of wheels is not important, I had to say that. Lurking for six months or so? I only lurked for a few days but we all have our own pace. I’m a newbie to the forum as well, just like you. I always wondered what it would be like to run a 10 wheel dump with rocks in the box, i.e. a 10 wheel dump with a tag axle or 18 wheel end dump. Perhaps you could educate me. I’ll tell you everything I know about blanket wrapped new furniture in a dry van 12 years’ experience and display equipment hauling. Welcome from one newbie to another.

Well I work for a excavating company an drive a 97 KW 900B . What we get into is nothing like the guys that run for the local quarry. All they do is street driving. We go off road an on road. My truck has a two way tailgate... Meaning it can swing from the top or the side so if we are haulin' brush it does 'nt hang up in the bed. I would say it alot like otr in dealing with all the crazy four wheelers an college kids. The plus side is... I go home every night!:biggrin_25522:

Well you learn something new every day, a tail gate that swings both ways, LOL. Thanks for sharing I’m assuming since you do a lot of off road and you got rocks in the box your steer tires are oversized?

Wup. 385's. We had 425's but they were just a little to big. The 385's made it turn a little easier also. I can haul just about anything in this truck. An do! Dirt, rock, concrete, steel, brush, only thing I can't haul is water!:biggrin_2559: Drivin a gravel truck has it's days but every job is like that. It's alot of back an forth to the same jobs. One job might take 50 loads of dirt or gravel so it's round an around till we are done!
