If some people actually had a grip on their life, and their future plans. The drop out rate would be tremendous. Failure for a paying student....is almost impossible.
What Courtney didn't learn at her college.... Value vs. Cost
And I'm sure her parents will be proud she graduated.....until they have spent their life savings helping her pay for groceries.

meh, your probably right, screw school and further education, kids dont need to learn anything, specially the poor and middle class ones.

Let them be the voice of takeout windows across this great country says I !!!
Homey im witcha!
Anything after free public school is a big waste of money and should be frowned upon.
Anything after the free 12 grades should be reserved for the rich and the athletically gifted among us!
All my daughters should be able to get jobs on their looks and boob size alone after graduation, with no thought given to their education.
Isnt that what your saying??
See how tarded that sounds??
-
No...Do you understand how ###### it sounds that the average communication student pays over $50k for that piece of paper. To get a job that will pay them peanuts, if at all their first year.
What wise ### thought it would be cost effective to charge $8000 a semester, for a job that pays $32k a year ???
On your furthering education...money or not. How's this (below) appear to you ? A smart idea ??
It gets even better.... from the same article http://www.lifereboot.com/2007/the-true-value-of-a-college-degree/
A hungry man will defeat an educated man...3 out of 5 times.
I worked my way to a Top 100 radio market within one year of entry into the field...without the degree. I only got the degree, after I got the job.
The degree itself is/was a worthless POS. It never affected my income or job. It did reduce my bank account though. And it #### sure didn't make me any smarter.truckerdave1970 Thanks this. -
Well, nobody does that great their first year in anything, everyone has to pay their dues.
That piece of paper gets most a foot in the door for that first year, its what they do over the career that counts.
Most lawyers and doctors dont start out the first year making the big bucks right out of school, but then, neither do truck drivers.
Not alot of lawyers or doctors get hired without that paper, same with truck drivers.
Most drivers dont get their CDL,s for free.
32K a year is ok money if you love what you do.
A husband and wife both making 32K a year can raise an average family.
I know of many single parents who raise kids on far less then that, and they are happy.
Alot(most)of the people we trust to teach our children in schools make that, many less.
Look at elected officials, they spend MILLIONS on campains just to get a job that pays 100K.
Its all about investing in the future.
a hungry, educated man, wins 100% of the time,in 99% of situations.
Well,I happen to know alot about the radio industry,so we both know its a dieing industry,it can almost be called dead now except for the few chosen ones and morning drive.Clear channel has seen to that.
In the radio biz, natural talent makes more then educated support staff, yet its the educated ones that read and interpret the white book, and gives the natural talent the chance to make big money,or not.
Most of the sales staff in radio have marketing degrees, and the dj's/personalities dont.
I was lucky,i turned the money i made djing for 20 years, into a string of family restaurants.(another dieing industry)
Is it safe to assume your in the trucking industry now and only flirt with the radio thing??
Im saying good move if so.
Im also saying the money we all spent to get into the trucking industry was money well spent, even if it might take a few years to make the big bucks. -
Unfortunately you may be right. But not in this case, my major was communications, minor was marketing. I also hold another degree, which is worthless too.
I worked sales, new accounts, and handled all aspects of production. On top of working an on air shift. Writing news/advertising, and actually doing voice overs that aired on multiple stations throughout the south east.
That would be a safe assumption, since many radio stations are no longer using live talent. Cost cutting measures ya know, and I ain't working for less than scale....anywhere.
