Boyd Bros Transportation, Inc. - Clayton, Al.?

i have definately heard of Boyd. they have been around for a very, very long time. i have never worked for them, but i can also say i have never heard anything bad about them at the truckstops, from current drivers, etc.

 

I just got an offer to work for Boyd and Averitt Express. I'm having a hard time deciding which company to work for. Some more info on Boyd would be great!!:smt100

 

I am also thinking about Boyd Bros. My uncle worked for them in their sells department and says that they are a very good company to work for, I am thinking about going to them very hard. He said that out of 1-10 company he would give them a 7-8 which is very good. He had nothing bad to say about them and he would tell me if they were a bad company we are pretty close. Well, I have 2 sources that may help you decide. I used to load out of a place where Boyd Bros. had a comtract with the company, so I would see at least 2 or more of their drivers each time I was there. Each one I talked to always had something bad to say, either it was low pay, not getting tarp pay like promised, not getting home enough, etc. The other source is from my own experience with the company. I am an owner/operator and I took a load of steel plate to Deroit, MI for them. I ask the Boyd rep. after I got loaded if I needed an appointment for delivery. He said NO! I showed up the following morning at 5:30am Detroit time for delivery. The receiving dept. asked me if I had an appointment. I said I was told I didn't have to have an appointment. He said too bad because you do and there were no openings that day and would not have an opening until 1:00pm the next day. Of course I called my broker and Boyd Bros. but nothing was done by Boyd Bros. The next day, a Boyd Bros. truck pulled in for delivery, so I went to talked to him. Come to find out that Boyd delivered th this place before and knew that a delivery appointment was mandatory. Well, after being there for almost 2 days, Boyd wouldn't even pay detention time when they were the one to blame. I would deadhead a thousand miles before I would ever haul anything for Boyd Bros again!

 

anyone know anything about boyd brothers? they sent me a pre-hire yesterday and i don't know anything 'bout them. any info is appreciated!:smt040

 

i know nothing about them, but if you read some of the other boards you will see a lot of positive remarks.

 

Haven't found much info on Boyd Bros. Good company? Bad company? What do you think?
