hopefully this post finds you still hauling gas: stay on nights!!!! when you go to days, you will wish that you didnt. especially if you live anywhere near a city. you will also see your pay decrease. do the math..if you get paid by the load, add up the loads you do for the shift and divide that by the hrs you worked. ask some guys on dayshift what they did for the day, and you will see the difference! good luck!

Some people like nights and some like days. What's good for you may not be good for someone else. We pulled all our loads in the city and the night shift pull no more than we did on days. The only difference was they got an dollar an hour more for shift differential. To me days was much better because I got to see my son and was not sleeping. I've done both but prefer days.

Nights can be both good and bad. If everything is going right you can be in and out in as little as 15 minutes depnding on the rack, but even the smallest problem that prevents you from getting loaded might have you cooling your heels for a few hours until someone shows up. But all in all, the advice thats been given is great advice. Get a routine, dont deviate from it, check, double check, and triple check before you open that valve. Keep your head on a swivel and make sure you're watching out for them because they sure as s#!+ aint watching out for you. From what I hear Dupre sounds like a good company. Best of luck to you and welcome to the world of Fuel Hauling

I have a quick question for anyone. Do all fuel hauling jobs require you to be 25 or older?

I only ask this because I had a lead on a fuel hauling job after talking to a driver in MI, then when I called the company and went to fill out an application within 20sec they said they require the age of 25 so I was just curious...thanks!

I would guess what he means you'll have to wait until someone from the tank farm shows up so you can make your load right. You might have to pump back some product or many other problems a loading rack can have. If you're lucky someone will be on duty there around the clock.

We loaded out of a community rack were alot of different companies would load. We did have our own dedicated lanes but there were common carriers that went all over. The biggest headache we had was the ethanol. Ethanol was not injected proportional so if you had a power failure halfway through the load you had to figure out how much ethanol to inject to make 10%. Then when subgrade came in it only got worse. But you shouldn't worry about all that because your company will train you for all the loading. Just take your time and take the advice already given. If you have any questions you can PM me anytime.

HI everyone, I have questions with an "s" about the right path I should take to get to where I want to be. First off I'm from south Florida and just moved to Nashville, TN.I currently have a Class A permit from FLA& I'm trying 2 enroll into TDI trucking school to help with my license and exp. I already know how to drive but dont have exp on paper. I really have my heart set on becoming a Fuel Hauler(night shift) if anyone has advice it would be greatly appreciated!
