BTW....CAT has larger share in worldwide engine production....Uh....how many Cummins are in scrappers, dozers, excavators, water-pulls, rock-wagons, and side-booms....Let alone power generation equipment?
I have a new rig with a Cummins....I wouldn't trade it for anything else except maybe a Condo cab......But come on...to say "CAT is dead" is foolish....
jakes...... isx vs acert

If "Expert" is what you are trying to be called after all this BS you have already posted exhibiting your total ignorance about truck engines - I'm no expert for sure, and I don't want to be called that.
In no way I want to be associated with "experts" of your kind and such a crxp "knowledge"

CAT aint dead, i looked and drove a 475 isx, what a turd, oil smells like fuel, hardly any power and this is bobtail. Overall mpg of truck was 5.6mpg, #### that id rather keep my single turbo CAT and overhaul it.

Thats the problem with truck engines I think, CAT was way more involved into off-road markets and that's why they didn't go EGR. I think (might be wrong tho) EGR doesn't work well in off-road applications, when is superior on-highway... They just tried Accert, failed and dropped it. So, maybe I should say Accert is dead so CAT is alive.

Mine runs fine...rated 550 and I average 7 mpg running 70 mph...Of course...I usually run heavy......If I ran like some of those company trucks...I'd get 8.....

The bottom line....the EPA/CARB rules are pure bull sheyat....
All they did was limit the market.....
BTW...there is talk again that the ports will allow the NAFTA rigs to run despite the ruling that they were supposed stop running them back in Jan of this year....
Then government gave the NAFTA rigs a break and extended to April....Now they want to give them another break....after the rest of us did the right thing and became compliant.....
Expect to see the Shaker COE's with the green mechanical engines back in the ports.... -
EGR work about as well off road as they do on road, suck fuel and poor performance, off road with SCR injection on a non EGR motor, horsepower and fuel economy is back where it should be, hopefully they can delete or greatly reduce egr, and regens with the urea injection, I know Mack is able to offer more hp and hotter engine files with a SCR Motor

foooooook cummins, im overhauling the CAT / thread.
Big Duker Thanks this. -
Yeah, you seem to be another "know it all already'. HTF can you judge anything yet? Why don't you wait till some of the SCR engines will go that first million miles ? All this media releases are lies, go back to 2002 and 2007 and you can read all the same BS about how ##### great new engines are. They have no clue and no base to claim that, it takes YEARS to prove new technologies right or wrong

I own a SCR Sisiu motor 350hp and one with a EGR used in a off road application Deere also uses EGR'S I know a little bit about them already with out reading books
Working Class Patriot Thanks this.
