One of my best employers’ and friend did 2½ tours in Nam, hauling JP4 in a tanker. In his trucking company you’re a diamond in the rough. You probably would have the advantage over any other nonmilitary applicant even if they had limited OTR experience. He has been trucking from day one as a civilian and is still out on the road to this day, with at least two other trucks running under his authority. All the posts within this thread have been supportive and informative in support of your endeavor. It might be in your best interest to vigorously explore the small to medium sized companies that are military friendly and supportive. Use your connections within the military family there are 23.2 million of us (veterans) out here, along with approximately 1,421,668 armed forces on active duty. Utilize this resource!
