Well.... Unfortunately I've got some bad news. I had a 2000 LB Dollar General Rolltainer turn over on me and I hurt my shoulder. So they brought me back to Bridgeton, MO where company headquarters is to tell me that they were taking me off of Dollar General account to put me on OTR. Well I never ever wanted to be OTR! I have always hated being far away from home and have a really hard time coping with it all. All the unknowns associated with it and all that. I don't know if I can pull through this one because I am having a breakdown about having to go out there on my own all alone away from people I love and care about. Its not that I can't cope with being away but what does me in is the distance that I'm away from home that puts the kibosh into things. Anyone have any advice or words that might make me feel better or cope better.

Stay strong Bulldog. Things will improve with time. Sounds like you had a tough break. Stay positive and keep your chin up! Being OTR wasn't tough (for me anyway), was just a little on the different side. Approach this with an open mind and look at it as a new opportunity. You'll be back home eventually buddy!

It probably will be tough, but give yourself at least three months. During those three months make yourself some options. I don't know if you have been otr before, but it may take a little getting used to. (hence the three months) I could be wrong though. They may be putting you otr to see if you will quit. Either way tough it out! Any one can live through three months. Driving the open road will give you valuable thinking time to sort out life. Good luck!

hey Bulldog if you look into it you can add a modem plan to your wireless account and use your blackberry as a modem for a laptop to go on line anywhere you ar that you have service and compared to the other plans its 25 compared to the 60 for the other

If otr is not your cup of tea do it as long as you have to to get the experience you need to move with that company ot to another company that will fit the lifesyle you want out of the trucking industry.

I'm 41 from Kentucky and will begin my training with Schneider this Saturday July 10. Orientation for 7 days and then out with a Wal-Mart dedicated driver for one week to train. What can I expect for my orientation and training? Thanks...

Thanks Everyone for all your kind words of sound advice, ideas and support because I will use them to the best of my ability to help me get through all this. I know you all might think I'm a little nutty for saying some of these things but being a rookie driver some thing are going to make me worry. I am constantly nervous about things like.... Not finding truck parking to take my break, getting turned around, getting myself into a restricted area, and with this new CSA 2010... Having roadside inspections and getting a ticket, listening to my GPS and it leading me astray and when I pick up loads/make deliveries every customer is different and has different ways of doing things and different paperwork and odds and ends that they need..... If anyone might be able to lighten my load a little with their experiences or advice I would be so grateful.
    Thanks
