    :toothy1:

Schneider sent me to LA four weeks ago (Greyhound from Denver -- ICK!), put me up in a super nice hotel (Towne Place Suites by Marriot), provided breakfast and lunch for the next 14 days, a truck, diesel, and a half-dozen super-kick instructors.

Beginning of third week, fronted me $100 from my second paycheck and I went on the road with a T(raining)E(ngineer). Got paid $350 for the week.

SNI rented me a car to drive back to Denver at the beginning of last week. Got evaluated here, practiced backing, went on another road trip on my future route. Got paid $350 for that, too (minus the $100 loan).

SNI paid for my CDL testing today -- and I, ladies and gentlemen, am now a rookie trucker (God help you all) and will start my route and move to regular salary at the end of next week -- $695/wk.

Schneider is the freakin' BOMB as far as I'm concerned. I never signed any contract for service, but maybe they don't need it -- I already feel like I owe them more than I owe my parents. I'll gladly drive a Pumpkin for awhile, and perhaps a long while.

When I first came here, I labeled myself "Trick Or Truck" cause I was sorting through the various CDL scams. Well, now you can just call me "Truck" -- cause SNI is the real deal!

Caution: Training is tough (but fun); don't expect to be sent to California and lounge by the pool. 5 classmates dropped out or were asked to leave in the first 2 weeks. Lots of military (as mentioned here previously), but none too hard-##*ed.

Did I mention that I'm freakin' excited???

ToT congrats. You've got every right to celebrate, one just needs to read these forums to get a taste of the appalling ways in which so many companies treat their employees, especially the newbies. It's really nice indeed to hear about one that bucks the trend and seems to function like a professional, real business!

Keep us posted on how things go.

I'm very happy for you, trickortruck. Schneider wants to hire me, also. I'm not going through their training program. Will wait to get my CDL A (hopefully next week) before deciding who to work for. Will probably not choose Schneider as I'm hoping for more money and have better offers (plural) on the table.

HOWEVER, I've got to ask, how'd you get a salaried position with Schneider? Are you on a dedicated route or how'd you manage that? $695 a week is not too terrible if the hometime and benefits are good, and that is guaranteed income. (not based on mileage) Did you sign up for some special program within Schneider, or what did you do to get that? -Dave
