When you are tarping a load, 'Think like a Roofer'. It's all about keeping out the elements...rain, snow, ice, etc.
Be super careful on wet tarps...suckers are real slippery!
So, you wanna be a skateboarder?

Picked up a load of plastic pipes in Yucca, AZ the other day. It was perfect weather for some margarita in the shade, but I had some strapping and tarping to do instead.
-
120 degrees? Isn't that winter weather in Yucca?

You're right. Maybe Crazed sex poodle was right all along LOL.

I'll invade this thread even though I'm a reefer driver.

I was reading the DOT regulations the other day and there is a whole section on how to load/secure boulders. I never thought about a bunch of rocks getting that much individual attention. Some of the rules were flattest side down and if the boulder was tapered the narrow end had to point front, blocking rules, strapping rules, etc. -
I'm glad that came out because every time I saw Al Gore I thought "Crazed Sex Poodle"!

Interesting thread. I'm a bit older then the 20/30 starting point, however did finish my first year of flatbedding without any accidents, claims, tickets, cargo falling off deck, etc etc. So, for me, success!
Now I'm ready for some steaks. I have one of the small round portable grills too, but I have never seen anyone else 'BBQin' in the back (which is usually where I am parked at)
I respect all forms of good trucking but my preference is still flatbedding.
Thanks for the posts. -
I was listening to the radio and they were just talking about it. Naturally this obligatory nickname came up as I was typing.

Good to see you using your head...
. This is why I like ratchet binders, although when pulling a flat I used snap binders more. I just didn't try forming the trailer around the coil...
Its in the elbow but I do know about the rotator cuff, I get that sometimes from pulling the tarp over. I'm beginning to think the elbow is stress related. I almost thought I was having some sort of stroke cause my whole right side started going numb. I don't know the first thing about a stroke, but I think it effects the right side? Anyway I've got a right arm thats in pain just flipping the splitter button let alone using it for anything else.
My dad got hooked in the nose by a bungie. The wind was bad that day and I've told him time and time again to hook the hook back around (guys with sidekits will understand this better) but did he listen..... Nope! It got him right in the center part. He got lucky and pulled it back out real quick or we would've been off to the hospital that day.
That was my thought too!!! Guess I'll have to find me a real one...
. Where you gonna be next week... I might need a hand...
