percentage pay to a driver?

    If a truck grossed 310.25 for a run and the driver percentage is 33%. Does the math go like this 310.25 X 0.33 = 102.38 Then 310.25 -102.38=207.87 Is this the amount paid to the driver, or is it the 102.38?

    Yes. This is your 33%.

    Percentage has two side. On one hand, it is possible to make a killing running percentage. On the other, if the company has negotiated poor rates, the driver's pay will suffer too. At 33%, it looks like you are running company, so you won't have the headache of fuel, maintenance and payments. Looks to me like you have a very good percentage and it is possible for you to do well.

    Percentage is good on long hauls especially with a reefer.

    Short hauls you can get short changed. Your example looks like an 50 mile run?

    I disagree with that. Most short hauls pay better per mile vs long hauls, of course I'm regarding to vans and step decks I do not pull reefers.

    I am the owner of the truck. I was giving my driver 33% of what the truck grossed minus the fuel surcharge. The driver only worked one day and got fired by the owner of the company I was leased to. He did three local runs that totaled 353.75 thats including the fuel surcharge.Fuel surcharge was 43.50 + 310.25 = 353.75 They deducted 120.00 out of my settlement check for his drug test and insurance. The balance was 233.75 . I really lost money with this guy he knew up front that the drug test & insurance would come out of his pay.I really don't owe him anything. He was my first and last driver.Should I pay him for his ONE DAY of work out of the 310.25 ?

    If he knew he was paying for the test and screen you don't owe him and shouldn't
    pay anything.

    I work on percentage at 25%. Our rates are really good so it works out.

    Before I get my cut the surcharge comes out, then the leasing company gets their
    cut, then comes mine. I figured I'm really coming out with about 25% of the
    linehaul and 18% of the gross.
