i think the "stern effect" + nascar had alot to do with this merger becoming a reality.

Yeah, if Sirius hadn't signed on Stern they might not need to merge with XM to stay afloat LOL.

Sounds like the government is going to give them a hard time on merging though. Not sure why, since it's not like satellite has serious market penetration. Lack of competition in something that barely affects 2 percent of the population is hardly a big concern

I'm happy about the merger but it will take awhile until they get the wrinkles out to do complete merge. I can't wait to finally just have one radio in my ride. I got both because cant stand Stern ......gotta have Opie and Anthony + Lil' Jimmie !!!

I have them both actually, back in the day when this satellite thing all started I would of said XM by far. Sirius has came a long way and actually offers better service then XM now. XM has just taken a turn for the worst, they don't have the lineup that Sirius offers, And let me tell you if XM makes a mistake on your bill it takes forever to get thing strait.

    Let me explain:
I paid for a full year, 3 month later they billed me for 3 months (billed my debt and told them take my card number off now). I called them and they said we are sorry all fixed. Next month I get a bill in the mail. I call them they say sorry its all fixed now. Next month I get a bill for 2 months, call them they say all fixed. I am getting a little aggravated at this point. I call them they say all fixed. The next month I get a bill for 3 months, I am like what is going on here. call them they say sorry all fixed. Well a week later I am driving down the road shut the truck off and go inside the TA, come back out and NO XM. so I call them and say whats going on here? they said you didn't pay your bill, I'm like look I have called you every month about this and I PAID FOR A FULL YEAR. well blah blah blah I end up getting "it will be back on in a few hours". Next morning no XM well to make a long story short from this point it took me 4 day at least 4-5 hours on the phone a day (NO JOKE) and finally I got it back on.

My friend had a similar billing issue but was not as bad.

XM has went down the tube. to bad I really like channel 48 Squizz but even though I still have service I listen to Sirius cause they have a better lineup

Ah heck I didn't know they merged, I sure XM doesnt drag both of them down.

Although you might be right, but that would be bad for business. They would have to at least develop a product that is irresistible to people first, like the cell phone gig. Who are the biggest customers, truckers, so what would be the next best for truckers? satellite phones. SO I just sold my retirement money for me and my kids for the forum. But that's when they will raise the prices, and if they wanna keep the customers they have now, screwing them, is not the best idea.

I still dont think the govt will allow the merger.

If the merger fails, it is my belief that sirius will fail due to them THROWING $$$ that they dont have getting all the sports, and the $500 million to stern who works 100 days a year....
