You pretty much have no choice with the new ACERTS. You have to spec tall gearing. CAT spec's a 1325 cruise rpm @ 65 mph and no more than 1500 at the maximum cruise speed. That means with lo-pro tires the lowest gearing you can use is a 3.55 if you govern at 65-68 mph.

ya, it's bad. I don't know who they had inspect the truck before they bought it but they must not have driven it over 55mph or they would have noticed it was getting a little close to redline at 70

A 3.70 rear end isn't unusual if you're running a 11-12L engine like a Mack E7 or Cummins M-11. A bit on the "low" side for a 14L+

i have an "old E model" too. its fine a dandy to keep them until the EPA decides they cant meet the air standards and you cant run it on the road anymore. then what? you just goin to get out of driving???

Has anybody tried using 2 cycle oil mixed into there fuel for added lube? If you use 1oz of 2 cylcle for every gallon of fuel for the ratio it will help you. here look at this for some info. Now just figure out which one is the best bang for the buck. I for one will say 2 cycle oil, it is cheaper and it also helps with the lubricating. Thats so important with injectors and pumps lasting longer. DPF trucks dont try this because your filter will clog so fast and your truck will get ##IT mileage

1oz per gallon? Have you done any hands on experiments with this on a $20k engine? Have you gotten together with Cat, ###, or Det to see if they will still cover the warranty with your reccomended fuel diet?
P.S. sorry for getting off the OP question. I haven't driven the newer engines. Sorry.Last edited: Jul 2, 2010

did it on my 10K engine but it does not have any emissions crap on it and its a pickup motor. It also has a HEUI injection system just like CAT uses on there motors. I would try it and see, it wont hurt anything as long as its ashless 2 cycle oil. Its a lubricant so it will lube the up pump, the inline pumps, the injection pump and also the injectors. Wont hurt a thing in it because its used just like the lucas injection additive or the diselkleen. It all helps lube the fuel system somehow someway.
As for the 475 ISX I have driven a 435 with a 10 speed and 3.36 rears and it was ok, it would of been better with a 13 in it when your trying to get onto the bigroad cause shifting on the top end drops the RPMs to low. The owner of that truck also has a new pro star with a 600 cummins and a 13 speed in it and says it does not pull as good as his 01 Volvo with a 575 HO 1850 detroit with an 18 speed in it but it also has 3.73 rears. I can vouch on the cummins and the fuel milage being good but then again he does not haul heavy, maybe maxes out at 60K or so. -
just add a couple ounces of 15w40 to 100gal and let er go, just need to fine tune the measure/ratio, sure doesnt hurt anything, considering thats bassically what the sulfer was, a lubricant. just my .02

i had my 475 isx turned to 600hp and increased my mileage. my gross varies but i pull a 53 ft van and average between 6 and 7.25 mpg. 6 is grossed out at 80,000 lbs.

What kinda truck is that in Shot In the Dark? That is awesome mileage for a 600 HP motor atleast in my mind.
