Starting new driving job the 29th. Going with Marten.

Ive enjoyed all 35 pages of these posts.(cant believe i sat & read all these) i was already 2 go to Marten til i read that they dont take students.(that sucks) neway i was wondering if there was any opinions out there of another comapny that may be just as good. Marten seems like a really good company to work for. i start school in a week & i kinda like 2 have my choices of companies decided before hand. Everyones got their own opinions so id appreciate ONLY the positive ones. Your advice would be greatly appreciated.

 

You are going to be somewhat limited as to where tou can go most all the large companies have a training program. I am going with Prime, but Watkins and Shepard is another one however they do not send you out with a trainer 10 day orientation some city and mountain driving and off you go. I kind of want to know the ropes for otr before I go solo just my opinion though everyone is different. Good Luck and God Bless.

 

He's BACK! What did you deliver to an air force base? I do have a question on new trucks at Marten. I see Petes, KWs, Freightliners in your fleet, what are they buying new these days?

 

I am hopeful that Marten takes me. I have positive results from 3 companies right now. But Marten has the APU's and KW's. No guarantee I would get a KW, but I can hope. I might get paid less per mile at Marten, but I figure having a cooler or fridge can save me about $100 a week.

 

Ok I'm back, Been on a week long break. Dead headed from the house to p/u a load Saturday in Atla. going to N.C. delivered it Sunday then p/u a load going to a small town about 60 miles east of Harrisonburg Pa. delivered in Monday nite. Was not a great wkend but every now and then you get the bad loads. After a long talk with my FM about 2 day 400 mile b/s loads I p/u a load Tuesday in S. Plain Field N.J. going to St. Paul MN. 1300 miles with the D/H. Delivered it this morning now waiting at GM foods on the S.W. side of Minneapolis for a 4 stop load going to Florida. Monday - Orlando/Winter Haven/Arcadia Tuesday - Miami 1850. Total for the week 3120. Not to shabby.


crc32 They have got some new KW660. The recruiter will tell you that you can't request a truck. that you have to take what is available but they will try to get you in the kind of truck you want. If you don't get it from the start then let your fleet mng know what kind you want and they will try and get you in one. You will have to prove your self first and wait a few months but you will get it.

 

No posts on here in 2 weeks I think they must not think Marten is so great anymore.
