In reference to CTL, I would be very careful. You will work VERY long hours for low pay. As a new driver with CTL you will be trained to drive Sulphur and Diamonium Phosphate back and forth from Mulberry to Tampa.

In October of this year CTL rewarded their drivers with a five percent reduction in pay along with doing away with the quarterly safety bonus.

In December of this year CTL further rewarded thier drivers with an additional five percent reduction in pay beginning January 1st.

At the current payscale a new driver will make $18.34 per load of sulfur and diamonium phosphate. This rate is after the first reduction in pay by five percent. Drivers are usually dispatched for three trips back and forth which means a driver will get six loads. This comes out to a gross of $550.20. This is IF you make your full dispatch.

Often times there are delays unloading the products. CTL expects their drivers to make their dispact in approximately 12 hours. When you factor in the delay time this can sometimes mean that you will fail to complete your full dispacth or work more than 12 hours.

As of January 1st the new rate will be $17.42 per load. This will mean your gross will now be $522.69.

The health insurance is approximately $110.00 per week for a family.

Also, as a new driver, you can expect to work nights and every weekend.

We had their recruiter in today for CT Transport. They are all in the same family. CT does flat bedding ad here in Baltimore it's a lot of building materials (sheet rock etc) for the Lowes etc.

Looks like a decent place to get started. I don't care for the auto trannys, but that would'nt be a deal killer.

Gee, they wouldn't even look at me because I am a year and a half out of truck school, and was trying to find a somewhat local job because I am a single parent.

They told me to go to school again...and pay another 6G... That's insane to me, even though they have their own training facility...

    To heck with them...

well i got the job..well have two more days of orientation. had to leave after first two days to handle some things. they pay 76 dollars i think to drive down there and either the same or 80 a day for orientation. The truck i did the test in was very basic. day cab Mack. Class is straight forward with lots of written tests. Ive enjoyed it so far. there were 10 people in my class and it was a larger one than usual they said. Seems like a good place to start and im going to stick with it. pay is 23% of load. so after taxes im guessing between 390-500 just depending on the week. if i make it through training i will post more. But i enjoy it so far.

    Cummins_04,

Do you know anything about the CTL tankers and hazmat side of the business? Just curious what kind of miles and pay scale they are getting compared to other jobs in Jacksonville FL. ?
