Some companies WILL check your score !!!!!!!

And dig thru some of the older posts on here, they reveal some interesting stories.

And also note that most (not all) of the posters from 12-18 months ago.....are now gone.

    Enjoy !!!!!

Hey david Gashauler has some good points. It is really tough jumping into it with no money. It can be done but it is tough. Some personal advice; get your wife to get her license too. You can absolutely make really good money as husband and wife team. My wife and I as company drivers the first year made $106,000. The adventure was even better than the money. Jacksonville is probably one of the best locations in Florida to be a driver. Pm me if you have any questions.

I am currently unemployed. I am a telecommunications/networking engineer with 26 years of experience in the industry. I've worked on everything from analog DS0 to OC192 optical circuits, as well as routers, hubs and switches. I got laid off Jan 09. I was lucky to get a short term contract gig from Oct 09 - Mar 10.

Been looking for work since then. I have applied to warehouse and janitorial positions etc. just to have some level of income, but so far no luck. I suspect they take one look at my resume and rule me out as over qualified, or they aren't interested since I have no experience in those fields. I do know it's awful hard out there job wise these days. If I don't find something soon, I too will be losing the house.

I did go out and get a class A CDL last June, but after reading this site for a while, after I had already paid for and started the school, I decided that OTR wasn't for me for various reasons.

Your not going to make the money you need, and see your wife unless you take her with you and teach her to drive also.

Sorry about the misfortune, but it seems its all to familiar no days. I got real nervous when the economy turned also, them with wall-street crashing. Real scarey times.

Reality, 40,000 the first year maybe.

    Good Luck.
