I'm curious to know those owner-ops that are incorporated if you put your title under your name or the business name?

    Thanks!

business name, otherwise that LLC or inc. means nothing. You have to keep the business and personal completely seperate.

You've been out of the trucking industry for 10 years and jumping right into O/O?

That takes a lot of guts.

Rich- yeah... It has been sometime ago. I was a previous O/O (well wannabe with Prime and M.S. Carriers). I have always loved the trucking environment. 10 years ago they did not have nearly as many technical advances like they do today. I did just fine without them, I remember back then having to stop and use the payphones at the truck stops for dispatch calls and of course the wonderful qualcomm. They still have qualcomm though. As I was leaving I was one of the first people to use a Prepass unit. I really did like them. Anyhow, I really have missed it and it is time for a change. This time I'm going under my own authority. I certainly like the ability to choose my own loads and just have to deal with brokers... HA! I always had the worst trouble with dispatchers! Thankfully I am up to par on everything still because I have been helping someone else get their own loads. That really made me want to go back even more.

Rob- Thanks, I'm going to plan on getting the title under the company name.

Set the company up as an LLC at least. With a sole proprietorship, you are liable for everything, and as I was told once (had my own cleaning business years ago) with a sole proprietorship, you have a business in your mind only, even if you have a business name.
