Has anything like this ever happened to any other drivers?

We had a driver that was sent up to Salt Lake (Friday Morning) to pick up a new trailer, load it and deliver it Monday. Missed Mondays dispatch was calling everyone north of Vegas looking for the driver.

He had stopped in a rest area around the 100 mm of I15 South sometime Late Friday. Went to bed and that was it. I was luck enough that I had seen his truck early am Monday but now I was up by Page to load ash.

They had a customer go over and check on him he was stiff as a board. APU was running not the main engine. Appearently he went to bed had a heart attack and died, never called anyone.

The phines we have now have the GPS turned on so they can find us if needed. But it would not have saved Dave, just would have made it easier to find him.

02 was just reading the thread and have to add my best wishes and prayers to all the others.I know how you feel about your pup I've had two cats and a couple other pets pass in my arms.Just keep in mind they are in a good place and together again.

As to your situation I have seen it happen too many times.I had my boyfriend call me from Queens,NY and tell me he pulled a STUPID.He was loading furniture for displays in a clothing store and needed a longer strap. He had 12 4' x 8' sheets of plywood strapped to the wall and took both loose while holding the sheets up with one hand.Needless to say he ended up being the filling between the plywood and a buffet table in a carton:biggrin_2555:.I had to talk him out of NYC and over to the TA on I-80.Ever since then I always ask him if he has had any title bouts with plywood recently:biggrin_25522:,usually gets me a *****! from him and a laugh from me.:biggrin_2559:He is first to admit he is a total klutz.

He later was told he had gotten a mild concussion and was lucky that I had kept him awake the whole way.He is a native of NY state and refused to be treated in the city due to high cost.

Luckily that company was real good about WC accidents.I wish you the best, just remember next time it is raining to plant that foot and be aware of your footing.

I have heard of several drivers passing in the sleeper. The last one I know of used to be amicks truck stop, but now is a petro at I-69 & 28 in IN. I have always wondered how often this happens? It was always my prayer that if I went it would be in the sleeper and not rolling down the road and taking others with me.

Wildcat2=Thank you I miss them terribly,Getting back into a truck is going to seem so empty without them.I'm real glad your boyfriend wound up being ok.Some times things just happen,no matter how many times you have done something, one wrong move can make all the difference.NoTarps=you are so right, those things happen a lot more than what we hear about. And I am like you,I pray everyday that I don't do something to hurt or kill some one unintentionally.Phroziac=I have also been in situations where there was no signal on my phone and my QC,but I have always been able to find a pay phone,or another driver with a working phone nice enough to let me make a quick call or even a business who will make a quick call for me,I have to find a way because if my family doesn't hear from me at least once a day they start finding out why.

Update=Ohio workers comp denied the claim.Said my employer had filed in Indiana, and that it had been denied in Indiana,so it couldn't be filed for in both states. As I stated earlier NO ONE informed me of it being filed in Indiana.Medical bills are still coming in and it is over $20,000.so far.I did get a paper from the companys insurance saying that since I had a past history of migrains that it was THEIR opinion that is what was wrong, even though they have not even looked at my medical records from OH or my doctor here at home or even sent me to a doctor of their choosing.
