What makes you think that he is owed anything in back pay? He stated that he is living off of advances. For all we know, he is taking $3-400 in advances weekly and is only driving 1500 miles a week or something. Just sayin'...

Easy why would National allow one of there fleet owners to do that to his driver?

Sounds like poor business management and poor employee care to me.

As for the 3-400 a week advance and only getting 1500 miles a week, I would of quit after a month of nothing but 1500 miles weeks and 3 or 400 paychecks. Go somewhere else that pays good and actually cares about you.

What goes on between a fleet owner and his driver is none of National's Business.

I just think that is kind of crazy that they dont have anything to do with it. I would refuse to drive a truck like that.

I fail to see where national is at fault when the driver drove for a fleet owner and not national. Not a fan of National in any way but no one made him drive that truck in that condition, it was the drivers choice to do so, and to do it while not getting paid.

WOW!!! You been in this business for 21 years and can't figure out when to leave a job and find something better? You've lost everything you owned for WHAT? So you can drive a big "pretty" truck? mercy mercy, should probably take a good look in the mirror for someone to blame would be my guess. Sorry to be so harsh but the "truth" don't lie.

No it doesn't..No matter where you go, the lease is always written to give the driver as few rights as possible..Why do you think these companies do these lease purchase deals? Because they are just swell people who are out to spread the wealth around?

Or, is it more likely they've figured out if they get some wanna be Billy Bigrigger to make the truck payments(often several times what they would be if you got independent financing) ,pay for the fuel, pay for the maintenance, have him pay his workers comp and taxes, etc.I like the way many agreements have the driver sign away his legal right to litigation. In the meantime, the driver pays the note for 2 years and is no closer to ownership of the truck. Many times one truck is leased several times, over and over again..You begin to see why the greedy money changers really love a deal like that. They get paid by their customers to transport freight, but they have a fraction of the overhead associated with actually running an honest trucking company..

If you can point out a lease agreement that actually puts the driver and the company on equal footing,I'd be interesting in hearing about it..Till then,I'll continue to believe that it's nothing but a one sides scam that 95 percent of the time ends up to be a financial catastrophe for the drivers involved..

If you cant get independent financing from a bank to get a loan for your equipment, than you have no business being in business..I remember the old saying ..''Don't sh-t where you eat.''In other words, don't lease your equipment from the same people you get your freight from..It usually ends in tears..

Actually there WAS one. When I first hired on with O&S it was in a "fleet" owned out of Dayton,OH. Biggest moron I've ever met that "thought" he was a smart man! What an Idiot! He screwed one female driver so well her last statement as a COMPANY driver brfore she quit was -$1500. HE actually SENT her a bill for the money! He tried to, well he actually did hold my pay when he put on MY bill he sent me that the truck should have gotten 7 miles to the gallon and this was in 1998! He had me come to Dayton and park over night once and he knew that I didn't idle the truck when the weather was nice!

But when he started to hold his drivers pay I let the owner of O&S know what this moron was doing and when Jim looked into it he told him to hit the street! Every driver for some reason owed the OWNER money! All 10 of us! How can every one of your employees owe you money driving your trucks and getting over 3000 miles a week??

The moral of this story is there ARE some companies that will not abide by crooked and BFI owners of small leased on fleets. It can come back just like this with National Carriers name in the title and NOT the arse that was the owner of the trucks!
