Attention employers: We now require a valid DOT# for anyone wishing to post a driving position. If your job offer doesn't contain a DOT number, it will not get past moderation and will not appear in the forum. The other requirements in the sticky at the top of this section are still required as well. Thank you for understanding.
I'm a tanker yanker now!

ya know, when i quit werner, i couldn't beleive how small most companies terminals were compared to other big crappy companies as well. don't worry, you will get used to it, and driving will become enjoyable again!
-
actually, this terminal is well beyond small. It would be totally non-navigable with a 53 footer...however, its not too bad with a 40' tank.
-
Going to joliet tomorrow! I guess i better buy a 55 gallon drum of transmission fluid for the car. I really should get just convert it to a stick...
-
Looks like im gonna be sleepin in my car for that "local training" bit. Blah. I just cant bring myself to come back to this house to confront these people unless its with a moving truck.
-
Im on lunch from my first day at training. Pretty typical orientation BS with some extra information i never knew....
11 people are here, everyone from the midwest region whose coming to QC this week. Not too bottomfeederish, nice.
The man running the orientation class at one point, said "ok, its time for a smoke break. If you dont smoke, you should probably start so that you can realize the full potential of the break." ROFL... -
Had a boss many years ago at an engineering co who thought if you didn't smoke, you didn't need a break. Started standing around with a cig just to "realize the full potential" of a break!
-
Good for you Phroz!! You sound much more positive already!
sorry about the crap at home that suxs just when you are starting a new job-but things will hopefully all work out for you!! -
Thanks. I agree. Now i just need to stop coming to this forum.
Just wait until my family starts wondering why im not calling them....sammycat Thanks this. -
i worked for quality carriers for about 9 years and before when it was montgomery tank lines, montgomery was a very good o/o company. quality not so much, but thats my opinion. you may like it. but be careful they started running it like a freight company. they have way to many poeple from big freight outfits running it now,pay is not like it use to be but alot better than a box trailer. dont know anything about the gary terminal, but i ran out of joliet an a affiliate terminal, if you havent bought your unloading equipment yet.try and buy it on your own as they are way out of line on there prices. and bend you over without a kiss and give a good twist for good measure. when you get a couple of years experiance check out the other tank companies as it wont be hard to find something better. than quality. again thats my opinion. their are guys that think its the best thing since sliced bread. hope it works out for you, just be little wary of them until you get things worked out, stay east of i 35 and you should do ok. if you are wondering why i left, it was a pay issue. anyway good luck.
