You are absolutely correct Redd. I still putt'em like that but it's a personal choice and that extra little safty thing that we have always done. Kinda like a strap every 8 feet instead of 10 and we like to use one extra strap or chain as needed. Pipe bundles suck when they are different dimeters. Thanks for keeping me straight with the rules though. I do get confused........... alot, Lol. Have a great day.

I generally strap every 8 foot if possible. But my last load I was only able to to put 3 straps on a 20 foot load.....
It was at the shippers request because they were worried about damages if I strapped it differently.... I strapped it the way they wanted. And 400 miles later I paid $550 to re stack that crap. -
Well, I'd say yes. Added 3 rolls of plastic sheet/liner in Madison, SD, and bundles of steel rods in Hammond, IN. It all added up to about $6200, but I also drove a lot. Somehow I didn't run out of hours.
When I got the steel load out of IN, I was already at IN/OH state line. It paid enough to justify turning back, so I did. I was waiting in Morris IL until 11:00AM, but I started driving as I didn't want end up sitting over the weekend.
Patience is the name of the game for doing partial loads, it seems. I admit I don't have much of it.
Going to Long Island on Monday morning, and heading back west with another partial (I picked up a load going to Pocatello, ID about 2 hours ago).
Can you charge the shipper for this, if you have some sort of proof? (pics, notes on B/L signed by the shipper, etc) -
A rookie question to Mercer long timers. Is there any place other than Louisville where you can get log books, deliv receipts, etc?

Hey Redd, I wanted to thank you for all the great info and some real world numbers. I am just coming over to Mercer from losing my ### hauling intermodal. I was wondering how you came up with your CPM, what sort of formula did you use to figure that all out? I own my truck out right and will be getting a trailer thru mercer and have already found my own headache rack and chains and binders and so on. I spent 8 years hauling flat and then moved to RGN's for the last 3 years and always heard good things about mercer and again all your info just made it all that more easy to come on over there. Hope all is well with you and business keeps up for ya!!!

yes KATZ go to one of the agents offices they have all the stuff we need there...heck some of the might even bring it to you...also up in security at the yard you can pick up things at nights and weekends.......
