Delivered in Crawfordsville,In and got a pleasant surprise that they pay deadhead miles going home for hometime so I get paid for the 170 miles home. Just got home a few minutes ago and am already preplanned picking up in Hopkinsville,Ky on Wednesday going to Duluth,Ga for as soon as I get there.

I am not but I can give you the name and number of one if you want it. After the last 2 years of low miles and crap at Marten I am just happy to be getting good miles and making good money.

As much as I don't like him sometimes :biggrin_2559:, i can vouch for bigkid being a driver. I remember him from when he used to drive at Prime.

OK so correct me if I'm wrong here but I'm trying really hard to figure all this out......

The recruiter told me on the phone that I should plan on averaging 2700-3000 miles per week so lets operate on an average number close to 2850.

Now, lets get the numbers together: $1.05 per mile pay + $0.17 per mile fuel surcharge figures in your total settlement, multiply that by your average miles per week (2850 as the recruiter is telling me) and you come up with a gross settlement of $3420.00.

Now lets start talking about the deductions:

    Maintenance Fee # $0.10 per mile = $285.00
    Weekly Truck Payment = $390.00
    Workmans Comp Payment = $23.00
    Deductible Buydown = $28.00
    Physical Damage & Bobtail Ins. = $25.00
ATBS Tax Keeping Service = $8.08 (yeah, I know its optional)
    Fuel Tax = $30.00

My calculator is coming up with a total fixed cost of $789.08 here.

Now lets talk about fuel, the recruiter also told me there's a discount system set up with a lot of Pilot t/s they have going on....
so, if you're averaging 6 mpg on those trucks & averaging 2850 miles per week (I'm going to assume they pay on PC Miler or Rand McNally miles) lets play the devils advocate here & add 10 percent more miles that the truck is gonna turn than what you're actually paid for so lets figure your truck is gonna turn 3135 miles. Take that 3135 miles & divide by your 6 mpg & I come up with about 522 gallons of fuel used per week.

If your getting this fuel discount at Pilot t/s what you're probably paying is somewhere around the neighborhood of $3.009 per gallon give or take. So your spending at least an average of $1575.00 weekly on fuel (now thats if you dont end up idling the truck at all).

So if my final calculations are right it sounds like $3420.00 minus the fixed expenses of $789.08, minus the average fuel cost weekly of $1575.00 ends you up with a net profit of $1055.92 which brings my final calculations to about $0.37 cents per mile. I suppose thats not really bad for a net figure but we need to remember that that figure doesn't include any kind of health insurance or income tax either.

BK2 help me out if I messed up on any of those numbers but I dont really think I did. All I'm doing here is trying to operate off of what the recruiters are telling me.

I would think fuel is much less then 3.009 a gallon there driver. If he is getting a decent discount I would go with somewhere in the range of 2.80-2.90

There are a few numbers you are pretty far off on.
    1. You put my maintenance mileage fee as a fixed expense but it is not it is a variable expense because it varies on the miles I do.
    2. I am getting an average of .30 below pump price as a fuel discount.
    3. My out of route or unpaid miles are nowhere near 10% they are somewhere around 3 to 4%.
    4. I have so far averaged 5.91 miles per gallon including idle time.

So far to date I have made .457 per dispatched mile since I started in profit.
