Theyd be really thrilled at Prime... trainees graduate to .30 when they upgrade to solo after 60k team training miles..

and the pay goes up to .33 or .34 at 20k solo miles later. Thats with about 6 months experiance tops.

i have a question. is there anyway you can opt out of that 200 advance? I would be able to claim unemployment and it would be more than 200 a week. I'm not unemployed now but i'm just curious.

Geeze, who turned on channel 19? And why are people who know absolutely nothing about Prime even commenting? I made one paycheck over $900 and at least two over $700 while I was in training with Prime. Every other paycheck was at the very least the guaranteed minimum, but usually a bit higher. Check out what some of the other companies are paying their trainees and go over to their threads and complain. Once you've saved all of those companies, come back here and save Prime.

They way you guys cry and whine about a company that you don't even work for is pathetic. If the industry is so horrible and has no future, than get educated in some other field. Might be a better way to spend your time since we're all doomed, instead of spouting whiny little half truths and complaining that everyone in trucking is screwed.

Enjoy your 100k / year driving a truck or whatever great salary you claim to make and spout your nonsense elsewhere. At least guys like NoTarps actually drove for Prime for a few days.

That's great! Anyone who works hard and tries to better their situation is not only an asset to their company but an asset to society. I enjoy trucking as well. I just didn't understand that trainees only made .10 to .12 per mile. That seems low to me but for a young guy starting out in life that might be a fine living. The fact that they give you a $600 minimum is nice too. If you are logging 60 hours a week for your $600 that's a $9.50/hour job. For a single guy that might be fine, it's just hard for me to imagine trying to support a family on that. Again, everyone's situation is different. I'm glad you are happy and I hope you have a prosperous career.

Remember, that .12/mile is for dispatched miles. The trainee is making that while the trainer is logging his 60 hours also. My trainer was up in the seat next to me during all new "experiences" including mountain runs, first time in a heavy downpour, and a particularly memorable run on US 65 at night from the terminal in Springfield to I-40:biggrin_2555:. I've found those back road two lane runs much more difficult than any of the Interstate mountain passes, where you just need to select the right gear and watch the idiots smoke their brakes on the way down:biggrin_25523:. Of course, a little different when you've got snow on the ground.:biggrin_255:

Phroziac... no one gets charged for orientation. When I went to a third party commerical driving school, yeah, I paid for a DOT physical and the learner's permit fee before they'd allow me to enroll. So what's the BFD here?

These folks aren't Prime employees, they don't have a CDL, and they are coming to Springfield to learn to drive a truck. Absolutely no difference over anywhere else. If they make it through CDL instruction, training and last a year in the seat, they don't owe a cent for their training. Free tution. That's not a bad deal.

I am starting training at Prime next week. To get that training, room and board, food, plus 200 a week advance for $150.00 seems pretty good to me. I am 53 yrs old, kids are grown and on their own. If I can gross $750 a week, that's more than I need. My house will be paid off in 2 years, and I won't have to stress out and spend my time on here b****ing about every little thing. If I can get .12 cpm for everything my trainer does, how can I complain. More than fair trade off for me learning to drive on their dime, and at their risk. It's kinda tough out here right now...if you aren't happy that you can't make 1500 a week, climb out of that seat, and look for a job out here.
