Have a road test for a LTL company tomorrow morning. Probably going to take place in a truck with a straight 7 transmission which I've never driven (only straight 10 and super 10). Any advice that comes in over the next 12 hours or so would be greatly appreciated. The job would get me home every night right out of the box which would be awesome with a toddler at home.
Thanks,
Straight 7 transmission

Don't sweat it.
Straight 7 speeds are easy - no splitter - no nuttin', just like a regular five speed with two more holes. RPM range is about the same as a regular 10 speed, double clutch or float, what ever you are comfortable with (or they prefer) and just drive.

Drive it like a car. We have 2 straights that have a 7 and 6 speeds and they are easy to shift. More RPM than a big truck. Shift closer to 2000 rpm than 1200 rpm

I've only ever driven one once, nearly 20 years ago... screwed up a little and tried to flip a switch that wasn't there, and the thing was well-worn anyway. After a mile or two, I got the hang of it. This was right outta driving school, by the way.
Be nice if they'd let you have a little practice time before starting the test itself. -
Thanks for the input. 7 speed was pretty easy and did indeed drive similar to a standard 5 speed except it felt like I was reaching for the door for 6 and 7.
