Just finished orientation in Syracuse, waiting on a mentor. From the Swift driver manual: 1-28 days=64.29/day. 29 days or greater=71.43/day. NOW, having said that. When I spoke to my recruiter, his numbers were 400 first 2 weeks then 450 till solo. I have yet to draw any pay, so I can neither confirm nor deny any of those numbers.

$450 a week.....not bad for training......what have you figured on making once solo? would my estimate of $700-800 sound like it might be in the ballpark?

Swift starting pay is .25/mile for a new solo driver. At 3000 miles per week thats $750.00 BEFORE taxes. Depending on what your state collects for taxes over and above what the federal govt. collects, thats going to work out somewhere between $550.00 and $625.00. Most of the drivers I talked to at the terminal claimed to be averaging around 2600 miles a week. Obviously there are good weeks and bad weeks. But I figure that if I keep my expectations closer to the lower end of that scale I'll seldom be disappointed.

I think I'll at least enjoy it way more than C.R. England. Freight is up, and Swift has the biggest slice of the pie. They seem to at least attempt give out as many preplans as possible.

Holy crap. Did I piss somebody off so soon? Second run out and I get sent to pick up big rolls of paper at Philadelphia. Customer is a port. Paid $50 for not having TWIC. Left turn onto service road from main road is almost like a U-turn. Bumped the curb. Coming out of customer, I couldn't find my way to I-95 going south. Pulled onto I-676. Lead to I-95 going north. Pulled off onto Callowhill Ave. Hell no! Tried to make a right hand turn down a street. Saw that my tandems were going to take out a light post if I continued. Backed up with help. Cars honking. Went straight instead. Saw a 12 foot bridge. Made a left turn down 10th instead and a left down Vine. Buttonhooks like mad crazy. Back in the proper direction. Yay!

On top of that, I can make my delivery by Wed, but they schedule it for Thurs. Oh yeah. My truck has issues that need to be fixed. *sigh*
