I was in NK terminal about 2 weeks ago. It looks like the construction is over? Are they going to be starting new work?

I live 300 miles from the nearest terminal. Crete's policy is to allow drivers to take their truck and trailer home with them, so your distance from a terminal is not a problem...truck parking at your house may be, but there are many ways to make it work. I, for instance, live 50 miles east of San Diego, CA.

San Diego is decidedly NOT a great area for Crete freight. Luckily we use a drop yard in the Ontario, CA area with 24hr security, and my sister lives 4 miles from there. I leave my 20 year old Toyota at her house while on the road, and the truck in the drop yard while on hometime for $5.00 a day.

Most of my miles come from the midwest/southeast but I have been everywhere.

    Thanks for the reply, otrtruckerscott.

It's cool to know they'll let you take the truck home. Who pays fuel in that case? And yeah, I'd have to figure out where to park the truck... it would have to be at the drop yard for sure. Just wish I were as fortunate as you to have someone living 4 miles from there!

From my talk with the Wyoming terminal manager, crete has changed that policy for new hires, and new hires must drop the truck at the yard, and drive their personal vehicle home. Expense of fuel being the reason. FYI

Please don't take this personally but I would really rather you talk to someone in Lincoln to get your info. You are posting some really bad info. 45 days out minimum on the Western regional fleet? Get real.

Nothing personal Longbow, but you are wrong...talked with Jenny in Lincoln, and then Ruth in Cheyenne, both told me 45 days out for western fleet, or national fleet, with me living in Wyoming. It is real at this time. Also was told by both that I would have to park the company truck at the Cheyenne terminal, and have a personal vehicle to go home.

Sorry Crete is changing with the times which a company that flourishes and survives does.

What I am posting is current information as of June 30th 2010.

If you are going to be a "3 week wonder" they won't hire you. You need to be a PTDI certified driver.

So the 45 day thing is based on where you live? That makes a difference. There is no way they will ever get anyone to agree to that though.
