was originally set up for USA then got switched to PAM right before school starts. Hope class dropouts and *cough* lack of trainers gets me back to USA. I don't like forced escrow, encouraged per diem, autoshifts(less experience then) and NO DIRECT DEPOSIT. Only the card thingy. Had one once, didn't like it. Good luck with USA, KD8FQB

Well USA still has 62% auto shift right now but I guess that's better than 100%. I already screwed up 2 checking accounts with overdraft charges so comdata is my only option for a little while. Good luck with Pam trucker105.

News Flash!: I got my trainer! The phone just rang while I was typing and it was my trainer calling. Frickin' A!! Anyway, I don't care for the escrow thing either, and the 5% off the top discused elsewhere in this thread is for the birds, but I have my foot firmly planted in the door now, so I will have options when I have some time back behind the wheel. They do have direct deposit now. I was given the choice at orientation of having my pay put on Comdata or in my bank account. This is relatively new, so I guess the word has not got out too far. I don't have experience on auto shifts either, but once I drove one for a few miles, it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. I can even find myself liking them. (Especially in stop and go traffic). They may encourage per diem, but they don't twist your arm. I didn't take it. I guess I need to make sure that I have everything packed. ETA with trainer is 5PM today. Will try and post from the road. -
I just found out about their direct deposit too, that makes me feel better, and as long as they dont push per diem thats good. Good luck with the trainer Nomad 57!

im pretty sure i read that per diem is automatic with pam for your first six months. Dont quote me on that forsure, but im pretty sure i read that on there website.
-
Per Dium is not automatic with PAM, but, to the unwise it is recomended. I don't know why. If you are not an expert on taxes, the fee you would have to pay to decifer any benefit would cost you much more than the benifit itself.

Iam starting c1 school in little rock sep 13th any advice for me completly new to trucking dont really know what to except
-
Well my advice is don't go to USA or Pam, or even Driver Solutions. USA fired me for being late on a load after I was sitting for a week with no breakdown pay. Up at 6am, Truck done at 3pm. 3 lights out on trailer, got out of TA at 330am, Scaled, Fueled, on hold for 2 hours to get my fuel card turned on, drove 50 miles and started falling asleep at the wheel 150 miles from final. 4 hours into 10 hour they fired me. Now I owe Driver Solutions 6 grand. DONT DO IT
-
Sounds like there may be some extenuating circumstances for the firing other than what you mentioned. Or USA has one of the strictest on-time policies ever instated.
Oh and did you ever drive for PAM or just USA? I'm unsure how you can tell the guy not to go with PAM if you never drove for them. -
He's probably saying don't go in the hole for Driver Solutions no matter if it's USA or PAM.
I actually managed to survive the contract with PAM so I didn't have to pay. But.... another student had a crazy dispatcher after hiring on with Averitt so he finally quit.
So yeah he owed DS but with his CDL he got a straight truck vending machine route and he's really happy with it. Just telling that story for the benefit of people who have bad luck from DS. At least you have your CDL and can try to grab any number of other jobs with it.
