what everyone here seems to fail to pick up on is the guys that got hired with little or NO experiance were running local / regional... They don't have the experiance with dealing with multiple state statutes and weight limits.. flagging, signs, strobes, permits, different state requirements, official DOT tie down specifications.. (Not just throwing a few chains here and their.. and dragging a loader cross town..)
Hauling heavy.. requires a bit of experiance. Every state has different rules, different curfews, size and weight limits.. axle weights.. ect..... escort requirements, pole cars..ect.

It's better to start slow and work your way up!

Remember it only takes 1 "OH Crap" to ruin 1000 "Atta Boy. you did a good job"!!

    KO1927 and Jimbo60 Thank this.

Oh, I don't doubt for a second driving is the easiest part of that job. Just dealing with the ODOT permit office for routine overweight permits is enough to remind me I would hate to deal with oversized and overweight permits through multiple states. It always seems they have the dumbest people working there. I personally think in order to issue permits, you should at least have a clue what a tire looks like.:biggrin_25523:

Logic and common sense are NOT job qualifications the permit office looks for in employees.

Or you could just buy my trk. and trl. and be a H.H..
Sign it up with a company and there you go.

That way I can retire early..

On a sad note there is an opening where I'm leased to.
Company guy just hit a bridge late today So I believe he might be riding the bus back home,

Is it just me or does the "OVERSIZE LOAD" banner on that trailer seem like a horrible undestatement?

With three years experience OTR with flats, steps, couple dozen RGN loads, and over size, how does one get into the big oversize and heavy haul? Seems as good as place as any to ask. Thanks
