anybody else have things they get paranoid about while driving?
for example, im always thinking "what if i forgot to shut and latch my trailer door, or what if somebody opened it" (roll up door) so i check it all the time
plus anytime i stop and go in anywhere, be it a customer or a gas station or whatever, when i come back out i check that no ######### pulled my 5th wheel release, nobody crossed my airlines, and that nobody opened my trailer door
same thing with the fuel caps...you juts never know when somebodys going to **** with you
nervous habits/paranoid

Be safe, not sorry
Freebird135, luvmyhubby and johnday Thank this. -
After a few miles, if you still have your trl, and your not leaving a trail of freight on the road, people aren't pullin up next to you blowing the horn and throwing you the finger, you can probably relax till you stop again.
johnday and outerspacehillbilly Thank this. -
I always thought it funny when I got the 1 finger salute, especially when I hadn't done anything wrong, 99.9% from 4wheelers!

-
I think the only time I was paranoid was around heavy traffic. I knew how I'd react to most situations, and most other drivers would. But the 4wheelers? A number of times paranoia came close to sheer terror!

have you tried prozac? really. if you were a parking lot attendant, you would be constantly running around making sure everyone is parked an equal distance apart, and have a tape measure to make sure.
relax. read up on compulsive / obsessive disorder, and try not to make everyone around you nutsouterspacehillbilly Thanks this. -
Nothin wrong with keeping safety first, as for the prozac suggestion unless there are areas in your life that also cause you to "stress" I would ignore it. Never know maybe you have developed habits that others should try?....

Nothing paranoid about any of that - it's good procedure to insure nobody messed with your equipment or you didn't forget something.
Here's a good one for you. The other morning I was heading back from the hub with a 20,000 lb lead and a 5,000 lb kite - got about halfway back where I hit a few hills and though to myself, this set is pulling way too hard after dropping gears where I shouldn't be with that weight. Long story short, my 5,000 lb kite was really a 22,000 lb trailer full of city freight for the terminal I run. I never verified the trailer or seal number and ended up with a miss-pull because I didn't double check. Had to turn around and go back costing me a few hours and endless harassment from co-workers. The next night my supervisor asked me if I wanted him to come out with me to make sure I had the right wagons this time..lol.. I have a good sense of humor so I'm never gonna hear the end of this..48Packard, outerspacehillbilly, rookietrucker and 3 others Thank this. -
Put your padlock on your door and you won't have to worry about someone getting in there,..
And ALWAYS have a extra set of keys for your lock and tractor,..
Nothing worse than dropping your keys while opening your door when your parked in a dock after a huge rainstorm,....
You cant pull the truck out to get the keys and you find yourself crawling on your belly in 6 to 8 inches of water to find the keys to open the door and be able to leave,,...
Good thing it was my last stop and next door to the barn,....lol...jakebrake12, Ducks, Freebird135 and 1 other person Thank this. -
I always check my fifth-wheel to make sure it's locked whenever I stop....It's never happened to me...but I have seen the results of someone playing joke on a driver.....
I don't think that ripped air and electrical lines are funny btw.....Big Don, Freebird135 and jakebrake12 Thank this.
