Let see, well almost everything you list is wrong. You are a installer of what exactly because it is certainly not 2-way radio's. you don't grind on a door or cut gaskets to improve grounds in a truck. You simply add a ground to the door or mirror mount. Common on this is the wrong place to give out bad advise. The CB forum has several of us that are experienced tech's. I have installed and designed equipment layouts for Fire and/or Police Department such as; Glendale, El Monte, So Pasadena,etc... including everything from console's patrol & detective cars to Tankers and Ladder truck.

I have litteraly spent days and lots of money finding the best setup for both single and dual on the trucks I have driven. I always end up going cophased (dual). If I could stick a 102 on the mirror then I would be fine with a single setup but kind of hard to go down the road with a 102 on the mirror mount and not worry about taking our low flying aircraft.
Currently running dual wilson 5000 with 10 inch shafts on the Pete. New Cophased coax running to the antennas.rabbiporkchop Thanks this. -
Factory on the Columbias we run has the 2 antennas, but the drivers side is for the radio in the dash and the passenger side runs out in the cubbyhole up above for the CB, it isn't co-phased. I couldn't find anything wrong with the coax but I also couldn't tune for a low SWR, so I ran a new piece of coax to a new mount after removing the other antenna from the factory mount.
I pull mostly step decks with a roof and tarp system attached, It's a van unless you look closely. -

as stated before. how is blocking your antenna from trucks going the other way better then the drivers side where it has a clear view of them. it doesn't so quit misinforming people.

I see ant wether duel or not as lot lizard magnet, cause once in truck they know they can use the radio even seen one use a handheld cb, and for more funnys
, but not true the coops measure the tips too see what front steer is lower then the other if one lower then the other then they pull around back and have a chat with you.

While your answer is correct if you are looking at the tractor only. What you have not look at is the effect of the radiation pattern caused by the trailer.
Sites like http://signalengineering.com/ultimate/mobile_antennas.html shows the pattern you are attempting to explain. Except the change of antenna location with it's shift of pattern direction toward the right rear.
But like I said before it doesn't address the problem when a trailer is added the the equation.
Another factors to look at is antenna damage caused low hanging branches.
So I hope you see it's not as simple as you think.

I run a single CB antennae on the drivers side, VHF antennae on the passenger side pulling open deck equipment. Whatever the advantage of dual antennaes is offset by the problem of getting both antennaes tuned. Hardly ever use CB, usually VHF.

What you have said makes no sense to me what so ever. I didn't reply in the other thread as you were going way off topic. Ok so the ground is better on the passenger side? umm both sides of my truck look the same to me. And the shoulder of the road looks the same as the lane to my left. I have heard so many things about signal bouncing off the side or being drawn towards this that and the other that it makes no sense. I run a single antenna slightly leaned forward on a spring. So that when I am going 65mph down the road it stands straight up and the top of my whip is 7in about my trailer. I know this because my whip hits on 14'2" bridges. But clears 14' ones so who knows. How far above it sits. But what I do know is it is higher then my 53' 13'6" box. Because it hits bridges and trees but my trailer doesn't. I understand what you are saying but I don't see how this is. All I know is I avg about 4-7 miles range and that's good enough for me. Some times too good when I am passing a truck stop where they are complaining cause mommy took the bottle away.
