why do so many thing legalizing pot will stop companies from testing? if you show up drunk you get fired too i'd bet. the same will STILL hold true for pot.

legal or not i dont want someone drunk or high driving a 40 ton vehicle at 60+ miles an hour. i also dont want that same person making my food or doing anything with my bank account.

while one is legal and the other is not both seriously impair a persons judgment.

i will not fault someone for trying it or doing it in college or high school.. continuing when you're out of the 'protected zones' of life and into the real world is stupid. friend of mine worked for a metal company. made about 1k a week after taxes. failed a drug test i have no clue where he's working now.

When I was a Child I acted like a child, but when I became a man, I put away childish things.

That is something a lot of young adults in our country need to really think about.

Well If this was a few years ago I would say that you would have a chance to find a job with a smaller company or one that wont care because they don't run legal. But with the economy the way its, and drivers with 10+ years of experience with spot less records looking for work. I would say you're chances are pretty slim. And I your biggest problem is that you quit rather then take the test. You should have taken it then gone from there. But that can't be changed. If you really still want to drive, keep looking you may find something. As for the drugs If you want to be a Truck driver I would say give them up even if you only use them on occasion. It's just not a good mix. Best of luck to you

Ok you got your point across, here is a cut and paste from one of your other posts.

Back in the Bad old days we ran no logbooks in Canada and my average was 5000 miles per week.... on Benzedrine. Think the highest was around 6500 in 7 days after which I collapsed

The difference is he's living his "bad old days" right now. People make mistakes, he made his and got caught. You got lucky and that somehow gives you the right to preach. :biggrin_25513:

    That was uncalled for...

I've said it on here before and don't mind saying it again (I'm not ashamed of it, but I'm not proud of it either)...I've done every drug out there (coke, crack, pot, meth, hash, etc) that doesn't involve a needle, and loved every bit of it. I still miss it at times...walking through a parking lot in a truck stop and get a whiff of somebody smoking crack, makes my mouth water, literally. And I smell it quite often...but if a person can't quit and be around it, then he can't quit. I'll never touch it again, but that don't mean I won't want to...its about will power (or stubbornness), and I have enough of that to cure 1,000 addicts. Quitting is a simple decision, but having the will to follow through is the hard part.

With that said...I haven't touched anything like that in almost 9 years now. I quit without rehab. My wonderful wife who has given me more 2nd chances than I deserve said it was time to quit...and I realized she was right (that song "Rough and Rowdy Days" by Waylon Jennings describes it pretty well)

I've been quite a "rounder" in my life...

    People do change...

My hats off to you, bro. Keep up the good fight, it's worth it. Been there done that. Clean and sober for 27 years, been married to the same woman for 30, not sure how she put up with me for the first 3.
