You are confusing two different things.

    Moving and non moving.

While the vehicle is in operation you are correct.
While parked off duty it has yet to be proven where the DOT says you can't.

Your truck is not legal to have alcohol in it at anytime. You don't have to believe me and in your case Brickman I hope you don't.

Please tell me where I can find that in my dot handbook. I don't even drink when I go for home time anymore. I have read my little green book. haven't memorized it. but read though it twice. waiting for the new big version to come out so i can study it. So please tell me where in my green book it says no beer allowed in the truck at all.

    Brickman Thanks this.

This "law" has been alluded to many times over the yrs here at TR. Each time I've asked for the DOT law to be linked to.
So far........ no one. Not even the DOT bears we have as members.
If this is such a hard and fast big bad law it won't be hard for you to post a link to it.
Like I said earlier, many companies have that requirement. But a company requirement does not make DOT law.

And I don't have to worry about it. I haven't drove a big truck in well over a yr.
I've paid my dues and am happy that other guys want to keep trucking. I love the stuff they bring to the stores for me to buy.
For me I hope that I never have to return to driving. But still have a current CDL.

I'm not going to make fun of you because that wouldn't be nice of me. :biggrin_25525:

But I will say this, go read the law you posted as its written before claiming that it says what it doesn't say.
The law you reference does not say any thing about when the driver is off duty relaxing in the back row during his 34.
Which is the topic of the original thread starter.

I just read that and it state no beer within 4 hour of going ON-DUTY. It also states no beer while ON-Duty. It does NOT say you can not have beer in the truck. please learn to read.

Sorry mods but i am an a5*hole and I am not scared to say it.

This is one area where I refuse to split hairs.

I don't do alcohol in my truck, period.
    I don't do alcohol on a 34 at a hotel.
I don't do alcohol at home within 24 hours of driving my truck.

I simply refuse to give 'em a reason.

When in doubt do without.I think you are smarter than the ones standing around a camp fire piling up beer cans.
