I've hauled through Lamar, CO once - and yeah it gets warm down there. From the terrain I thought I was in Kansas already!

HwyPilot.
I picked up a straw hat the next day, and they fiddled with the truck's A/C (didn't do a lot of good, though). I finally decided that I could start the trailer unloading before taking the paperwork to the office, which overlooks the loading area (which probably saved me from a worse fate... the operator saw me slump over). Once I became comfortable with this tractor/trailer and its unloading habits, I'm comfortable setting the levers and waiting in the well air conditioned office for a few minutes. I can sit behind the operator and watch my hose twitch. Got through a couple days working like that, and was perfectly fine by the end of the day (12 hours or so during a pour).
Now, if I'd been hauling something like pebble lime, I'd still feel a need to stay by the trailer, and would probably rig a tarp shade or something.
Might be marketable, a folding shade/awning that'll deploy over the line-air valve area. Be good in the rain, too.HwyPilot Thanks this. -
Been running my butt off. Supposed to be five trucks hauling but only two are. Then they gripe not getting enough grain hauled.

Hey Hey it worked

Still hauling wheat and still behind on getting it out. Seems like everybody wants their wheat moved. Got a call from seed dealer needing a load hauled, that will make the elevator happy, yeah right.

I know what you mean, WH, its amazing how quickly you can go from not having much to do, to having so much to do you can't take care of everyone fast enough. Glad to hear you're busy too, keep cool while your at it....
-
I wish I could keep cool. In excessive heat warning today 105 to 108 heat index...had 30 mph south wind to keep the day interesting. The truck has been relatively cool but A/C has a hard time when it is this hot.

We're between pours right now, and I was afraid I'd be stuck with makework around the plant when we found that the construction crew was short a few dump trucks. Whew... I hooked up to our end dump and did that all day (hauling rock for the road shoulder). My A/C ain't any great shakes, even after being recharged, but it sure beat bangin' around in the sun.
