Don't want to be rude here, or sound misinformed, but honestly I probably am. Teddy bear is averaging 1000 miles per week? How much does this pay, is it percentage based or mileage based? I never been around, or worked with anything that has a thing to do with expediting, I know I've seen on different sites about different methods of pay, that just seems low for weekly miles, but maybe it's average, I'm sure someone can answer this for me.

I have been over at EO every day since deciding to get on the road. Also have called several companies. Main problem I am having is not have the B class right now and no OTR expereince that I can claim even tho I have basically done the trucking life on and off all my life.

So my only 2 options is to head to school and get locked in a contract for a while to get my CDL or find someone that needs a co driver. That will allow me to prove myself and build up some credible OTR exp.

So if there is anyone that needs a co drive that is dependable and ambitious please by all means hit me up and lets talk.

I am still relatively new to this. I have been doing it for about 2 months now. The owner I am with is fabulous and very helpful. He told me that to start, if I can average 1000 miles per week, I'm doing good. Now, drivers that have been at it for a few years average more miles, but they also know more about where the best places to sit for loads are. I've been very lucky in that between the owner and a couple of his drivers, they have given me a lot of help about choosing where to sit. Every driver is out for himself, which is understandable, but if you can find a mentor who is willing to help you, your chances are better at getting a load with good miles. Most of my runs average between 300 and 500 miles. My best week so far has been about 1500 miles, my worst was 700. The owner I drive for does a 60/40 split. I'm still in the learning stages of how to recognize a good load offer, but for the most part, I'm still making money, even when I make a choice that isn't so great. I've got lucky in that it leads to a good load.

Sounds like you are on the right track and you were lucky to find some that is a good mentor especially when it is hard to find them and make it all work out. Keep on keeping on!

I've actually been very lucky in that I have 2 excellent mentors plus the owner willing to help me. The first time I came home was due to a death in the family. One of the guys that was there at the time, refused a good load to help me out. It was going in the direction I needed to go to get home and he told me he would refuse so I wouldn't have to deadhead all the way. I can almost guarantee most would not do that for someone they had just met. In all honesty, I have to say I believe that the owner is 95% responsible for his drivers being this way. When you find someone who is willing to work with you and help you out, the drivers are more willing to help one another.

Also, attitude goes a long way in this business. You always get further with honey than with vinegar. I've got great dispatchers who are always ready and willing to help out and answer any questions or give advice when asked. In return, they get more respect from the drivers. It's a two way street.

Understand they have no overlimit charges when you go over the alloted time they just slowdown the download speed. Good info to have and you can get the cards on ebay for $50-60 Dollars so you have no need to signup with a contract. and it's only 39.00 a month.
